*SPACE gossip*

Everyone said the same thing about DC10 when it got roofed, but tbh I completely forgot about the roof being there when I got inside.

That's not quite enclosed though is it. There is still air running through and a feel of the outside!

Not impressed with the space drawings at all, i agree with N8, not my idea of daytime clubbing to be in a greenhouse with aircon.

Will have to go and see it though, to decide for myself.

We all knew what was coming - I don't really see the problem with what Space are doing.
DC10 was covered last year and for me, it made absolutely no difference.

Trust me, come 5th June, the place will be jumping, as usual.

I hope they will have additional ventilation and circulating air, perhaps even conditioned air. Otherwise you'll have moisture condensating on the glass and dripping from the ceiling. It will be raining inside the terrace if the temperature is high and lots of warm bodies are inside. Let's hope they have properly engineered ventilation...could be a HUGE problem if they didn't give it proper thought.

I'm sure the club which just got voted the best in the world would have not thought this through..

Space as a club is worth millions, this club will not risk people passing out through heat. Inside space is porbably the best air-con I have ever expeienced in a club, I'd imagine they would have the same outside.... I don't know much about air-con, I do now that if you have air-con on the windows have to be closed, maybe this is why they are having glass windows around the side of the terrace. :?:

I'm sure they would have thought it through as well. Just the thought of lots of glass and the sun shining on in is a bit...warming. :? Like someone mentioned earlier, a greenhouse...

I think as long as we get some air and sunlight coming in ...... We might get part of that feeling back...

part of the first designed shows a retractable roof...is this not happening any more?

so will space have any new room this year, after the addition of the red box and the terrace upstairs last year?

no, right? well, surprise surprise, the answer is YES!! :o

apart from the new roofed terrace they want to do another room outside/next-to the club, at least thats the plan at the moment!!
and McBoobies was right:

We've heard reports there will be another new room. Is this true?
There will be another chill out, hang out area. This will not be covered by a roof, it will be open air.

Fair comment stu - but dc10's roof is like a greenhouse...and its not made of concrete!

Jason you are right , i did experience some water drop at la troya asesina @ amnesia on the terrace last year, the roof is pretty high and the club run during the night

I hope they will not transform the space terrace in an aquarium :P

If it's completely enclosed with glass windows all around there must be aircon otherwise we will be steam roasted space vegetables. :? As mentioned, the aircon inside space is excellent so they surely know what they're doing in that department?

Overall, my first thoughts were - BAD NEWS - but on reflection, and after discussion with mis amigos, i think that this could actually be pretty good. The pics do look a bit grotty but these are CAD visualisations of the layout, not a real impression of how it will be. The text on the website says it will be stylish, so I'm sure once built they will decorate the place nicely and it will be a cool room with the sun and sky visible to the outside; and with a glass section of the roof we should see the planes roaring past. :)

I think the most important thing is that the layout and crowd will be the same. I will certainly miss the outdoor feel but if that means a louder cleaner sound system then that's not such a bad compromise is it?

There will also be an extra bar so less of a challenge to get a drink at peak time, plus a new outdoor chill area and the existing roof terrace.

I'm looking on the bright side, and with only two months until opening we'll soon know if the new terrace measures up (if it's built in time!).

spot on.

After a few vodka limons ( ;) ), no-one will realise it has a roof on it !
:D

surely the whole reason/point the terrace started is that it was open air......if its all inside you might as well be anywhere.

I much rather have better sound than "open air". I came for the music...not the air/sun/wind/etc.

~Jason

I'm with N8 on this one...you can go to plenty of other clubs in ibiza which have great sound systems and air conditioning...but none of them have that outdoor feeling on the scale of the space terrace.

For me...it was part and parcel of the experience to be all sweaty and hot in the sun and to have the sea breeze blow through the place. In fact i am quite nostalgic about the memory I have in my mind's eye about the lanterns quietly swaying in the wind whilst the music plays at dusk on the terrace.

I'm sure that the crowd will stay the same but you cannot deny that some of the magic will be lost. At least the upstairs terrace will remain open...

...I remain un-convinced.

I agree with you both and think Space must realise this too. But aren't they being forced to do it by the Town Hall?

From what I've read on the Space site I don't think there will be a retractable part of the roof when it is finished now. Perhaps someone could confirm that?

I still think it is a possibility that the roof isn't finished in time and Space ask permission to open without it for 1 more year? Maybe we will be dancing under the bamboo again???? 8)

Optimist! ;)

8O For sure non retractable the point putting a roof is to stop the sound going out
Amnesia has the same problem when they cover their terrace the roof was suppose to open but at the end for noise reason they made permanently close

8) just hope it will be enought glass in the structure to see day light
at least we will call it greenhouse terrace

I can confirm that pictures my friend took of space carpark from last week show that the place is still a bombsite...

but the good news is that there is no roof in sight! :D

...nor a dancefloor, a bar or a dj booth or any speakers :(

Hahahahaha.

Well they're opening a week later than planned now.... ready for the smell of paint drying anyone...? ;)

It's a sad time, esp for anoyone that's never been before. But still, if there's light in it, then it'll be a reminder. And I'd still rather have a covered space terrace than none at all.

There's always DC10 (hopefully)

Think somone mentioned DC10 is having an even more permanent/solid roof this year too?

McPhotoin?
