Space - Avoid - the Security SUCKS

one tip, get up there for 8ish so you can sit in the early evening sun, watching and listen and feeling the vibe.

sounds like a good tip to me... will try my best to. it's hard not to get stuck to the terrace tho! :D

i'm now at the 'getting butterflys in my stomach' stage! :D :D :D :D

its alright for you - i'm getting the depressed, blues feel.

maybe i shouldn't come on here untill it passes

I can totally relate to this post, the club insenses me in so many ways - especially the attitude of the staff. You pay a lot of entrance money and don't get much respect if your a Brit.

Though I did get given a free drink token from the owner at the bar once to some Spaniards total disgust.

I will be there on Sunday though

how can they charge those sort of door prices (which can be upto €50 on the door) and then limit what areas ou can visit due to over-crowding. surely the whole point of paying your money is you can experience the club.

now don't get me wrong, i loved space, it was the main reason i visit ibiza, but last summer it was, well to put it bluntley crap.

terrace volume was really low, i could actually hear what people were saying to me whilst standing in front of the speakers.

girl-count was much lower, and the magic was missing.

now dc-10 on the other hand, had friendly & efficient security, excellent atmosphere and the magic that seems to have left its big corporate competitor.

SPACE RIP

have you been this year?

to be honest not yet.

i'm basing my arguments on last year, but my buddies have been over to ibiza two-three times already. i value their opinion and everytime they've been this year they've told me how they were not enjoying space anymore. the last time they were over there they didn't even bother going!

most of their arguments matched up with my views from 2003

you do have very valid points as i would have agreed with you had i not been this year.

this year space was by far the best place, for me. the crowd was electric, the sound was a lot louder. And the new roof terrace adds a whole new, exciting aspect to the venue. And then you have the new house room. Which is situated between next door to the roof terrace. Which from what i can gather is also wickid.

space is far from finito yet.

;)

ok fiar point. i'll withold any further judgement till i make my annual pilgrimage in september.

I have to agree, space was an awesome club. I was well impressed with it!

Sounds wicked, I'll go with an open mind as usual. I always manage to have fun in some respect, where ever I am.

I don't how you can call a club like Space crap. Ok maybe it's been a little hmm... less good lately. But it cant be crap. If you ignore the unpolite staff and that it was to packed, it still pretty wicked right?
;)

Sad to hear of the problems you peeps ahev encountered. But no matter how many of these posts I read, nothing but nothing will stop me going to Space this year. The security thing can be annoying for about 2 seconds and then it's forgotten for me.

This roof terrace sounds cool, top tip Robbo, I shall try and find it, but my sense of direction is not a strong point of mine whilst in Ibiza

Cheer up folks, and give it another go, this is the greatest club ever ever ever ever ever :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Few points I'd like to make:

1) Taking a £700 camera clubbing? :!: :!: :!: :?:

2) What do people suggest re overcrowded areas? It's not like if you were let in you'd enjoy yourself as it would be too packed, and then you'd be posting on here saying "it was too packed for me to enjoy it". You just have to bite the bullet on this one, q for a little while, and be grateful that when/if you do get there, it will be a much more pleasant clubbing experience.

x-amount - agreed.... an expensive cam to take clubbing - but the only one I have.... and a mate's 30th.... well, one of them times, especially when ur somewhere like Ibiza, when you want something to remember the day by. And the camera comes virtually everywhere with me anyway, it's tiny and unless you get ridiculously wrecked, pretty un-loseable I think.

And as for the overcrowding - sure, we queued for about 15 minutes, and were told time and time again the room was overcrowded. My gripe was that yeah, cool, if that's the case, with safety regs and stuff... of course, keep the numbers down..... but when the doorstaff starts letting people in who have just arrived behind you - well, that kind of riles you somewhat when one of your favourite DJs is playing within earshot.

And at the end of the day, it's down to the attitude of the staff at Space - from the management down to the doorstaff, they were rude, brusque, aggressive and unnecessarily rude. Not a great way to promote a happy clubbing experience.

.....what better way to close the whole issue on the obvious problems Space are having with their security than an ironic message from the club manager Fritz Pangratz, found on the official Space website, explaining why Space is so, err, amazing:

"'I think it's because we put in as much effort into giving our visitors the best experience possible as they put into partying here.'

I just wish Mr Pangratz had been available that day..... the security manager mentioned in my first post refused to even give me the manager's name when I requested it...... I just wish they'd tried harder with this apparent 'effort' the day I visited the club.....

Sorry to hear you had a bad time at Space. I know what you mean about security there, they can be a nightmare. But in June we had no problems, no queues, no searching, cameras through the door.

I just came back on saturday, went to We Love on July 18, 25 and had no problems at all.
