Thinking of doing the season next year, I've threatened doing it for years... think its about time I did!

Anyone got any advice? Hints, tips, etc?

same tips as always

- try to learn some spanish beforehand
- save up as much cash as you can and as come as early as you can to get a good job
- play it safe for the first half of the season - the fun only starts after august is done
- don't accept any invitations for trips to peru

 on peru.

I was advised to cover the cost of rent before I go, which seems like a good idea. Makes it easier for work too.
When is a good time to come out? Early may?

Aye definitely go for it Man.
If you don't you'll regret it for the rest of your days:(.
Once you're there you'll very quickly settle in and be making friends for life before you know it:):)

Thanks.
Anyone got a rough idea of what rent costs?

Lookin at this too. From what I can see its about €700-€800 per month for a studio, €900-1000 for 1 bedroom (bills included).
Dont know if this is the going rate though.

If you don't mind sharing a room with another person and a single bed then your looking at 270-300 ish. It's a good way to meet people even if its cramped. I'd also recommend anyone going to get there nie at a Spanish consulate in the UK before going. Waiting times for appointments are about 3 months. I had a group of friends do it in the UK this year and one group do it in ibiza. Those in UK had it so much easier!!

I was intending to go in the new year and sort out an NIE number. 300ish isn't too bad. I think a double bed is a luxury, really...

to Ibiza to sort NIE? Once you take your forms you then have to go back again afterwards...and they can be less than helpful... would so recommend the Spanish consulates in the UK...was so easy for my friends..an cheaper than coming over here!

Got a reply from the Spanish consulate in Edinburgh. Heres their infi on NIE number:

You can apply for the NIE number at the Spanish Consulate in Edinburgh if you intend to work in Spain 6 months or less. If you are planning to stay longer, you must apply in person in Spain at the local Police.
Instructions are attached. You can download form EX-15 from this website:
http://extranjeros.empleo.gob.es/es/ModelosSolicitudes/Mod_solicitudes2/index.html
If you apply at this time of year you do not need an appointment. Apply from 9.00 to 13.00pm Monday to Friday. Bring you current valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), £7.55 and a stamped self-addressed envelope.
If you apply from March onwards, please make an appointment. The NIE certificate you obtain when you apply through a Consulate will expire after 3 months, as it takes only 2 weeks to arrive, you may want to wait until you go to make sure it will be valid when you present it there.

Hmm. I'll email the consulate in London in the new year, find out how to get one.

definitely do it mate, you won't regret it, as for tips, same as Stivi said above. Save as much money as you can, don't forget, when you're paying rent you'll need the rent plus another months rent upfront as a deposit. Money goes fast over there, very fast, I know a couple of people who left in June/July because they blew all their cash in the first month (some even before that). It is about €700+ for studio, but if you want to share with other workers, you can rent a room for around €300 per month, depending on where it is.
Job wise, just walk around all the bars etc asking for work, be careful of 'free trials' with a promise of a job at the end of it, I was conned with that one, doing three days of 'free trials' and when I asked about a residency was told "why should we pay a resident, when we have loads of DJ's coming in to play for free?".
Also don't expect to only play the music you want to play, I had to play Funky Flares (RIP) three nights a week to cover my rent, although it was owned by Eden at the time, so technically I was working for Eden ;) then I was able to play the music I love regularly at other places, V Club, Hush, Kanya etc.
It's hard work and sometimes you feel like you wanna get the next plane home, but the people you meet will be some of the best people you can meet, and Ibiza is the greatest place on earth.
With regards to the NIE card, you pick the forms up from the police station in Eivissa Town (near the McDonalds) take it to the bank to get stamped, this will cost you €10.20, or it did in 2012, then you take it back to the police station on the date you were given, and you get your card, it lasts for 5 years apparently, by the time I got my appointment, they had changed the rules saying everyone needed a contract to receive their card, so I didn't get mine. I am gonna look into getting it from a Spanish consulate as mentioned above, as that seems a lot easier.

:DHappy new year everybody! Hope yous are recovered and still excited for 2014.
Now its all done with, we're back gettin into gear for this season. Looking at apartments and wondering about budget. This is probably like asking "How long is a piece of string?" or "How many people can fit in Amnesia?", but how much can my girlfriend and I expect to earn monthly?
We're lookin to put a deposit down but don't want to commit to somewhere that will soak up all our hard earned cash or somewhere thats a box with no windows cause its dirt cheap.
Cant wait to get stuck in now!
