New Neighbours Association For Sant Antoni.

Presenting in public at the weekend the new neighbours association, which has been created to represent those living in the centre of Sant Antoni, the president, Maria Carmen Muñoz, said that the main aims of the association were to get the town hall to apply the by-laws correctly particularly with regard to cleaning & rubbish collection, noise levels & the closing hours of bars, pubs & clubs.
from the ibiza sun:

San An Research

In a recent survey carried out by the Neighbours Association of San Antonio, the main worries of the residents include the lack of street cleaning that takes place, and the breach of official hours kept by some bars and nightclubs. The main preoccupation, however, seemed to be whether the politicians believed the current tourist model would work and if not, whether they had a viable alternative. Noise levels were also high on the list, with many people wondering if the next elected team would bring out regulations to control it.

talking about alternative tourist models..... from the ibiza sun again:

Golf Course Gets Go-Ahead

The Town Hall of San Antonio has given the go-ahead to the property developers, Andria Inversiones Inmobiliarias SA, to start initial applications for the building of a golf course in Benimussa. The rubber stamp comes on the back of remarks made by the mayor, Jose Sala, in his election speech that he would like to see more golf courses and the higher quality of tourist that this type of project would bring. The proposed site for the course will be in the area surrounding Ses Paises, Can Tomas and Benimussa. However, Sala confirmed that it will not include the Puig den Llucs zone, an area protected against the building of golf courses. When asked about the potential size, he confirmed that nothing had yet been decided, but that it would have to be at least the minimum permitted for a golf course which currently stands at 600,000 square metres.

The company, Andria Inversiones Inmobiliarias SA, confirmed that they had so far verbally secured almost 500,000 square metres of land and were in talks with other land owners. The company also revealed that the plans include the building of a 5-star hotel, with a capacity for 450 people, which would be open all year round. The cost of the golf course will be between 100-150 million euros and, if everything goes smoothly, could be a reality within three years. The company is owned by the controversial American businessman Marc Rich (which he most certainly is). The 73-year-old businessman has spent 18 years of his life fleeing from the American justice system, after he was accused in the early 1980´s of the biggest tax evasion in history. He was also accused of ignoring the Iranian oil embargo of the same period. Between 1983 and 2001 he was among the FBI`s 10 most wanted list, with a reward for his capture of 750,000 dollars offered at the time. His problems came to an end in 2001 when Bill Clinton, in one of his final acts as president, controversially granted Rich an official pardon. The businessman has had Spanish nationality since 1982, and is considered one of the biggest oil transporters in the world. He owns over 50 companies all over the world. Rich owns a house on the island where he spends his summers.

here is another one appeared this summer on dj mag written by ben edwards:

 SAN ANTONIO REDISCOVERED

actually... i wrote that article. it was in the first issue of the summer and in the second one they wrote an apology for wrongly attributing the piece to Ben. Just thought you should know...

I love San An and think that it needed to be shown to be getting better by the minute... and I hope that the article made a few people actually stay in town for a little bit longer than they would have before so that they could see that for themselves!

Good article. San An is a fantastic place to stay and I would have no other place as my base. The only reason certain people dis it is pure snobbery. Half of them havent even stayed there! PDB, IMO, has Space and Bora Bora, but is not reason to stay there.

With the new promenade, Kanya last year, the new Plastic and the fantastic looking space ship thing called 'the bus station' things are really looking up.

Great restaurants and a really good daytime vibe. Viva San An!!!!!:) :)

today:

no progress at all
are the "wooden-platform-builders" on holiday :?: :?:

I'm really not surprised it's taken longer......most building projects over there seem to take an age. Still, I think it's going to be better than I originally thought. Really sad about Sugar Sea though - I really liked that place. CDM, Mambo etc. are good but crowded. I've had many brilliant, chilled and crowd-free sunsets on that ol' terrace. I couldn't tell from the pics - will Sugar Sea have a decked area the other side of the prom too?

BTW first class job on the pics Mr. McR. Thanks for keeping us lurkers so well informed!
