San An. .. I like it

OK so I'm no ibiza veteran. Just my fourth time in last three years

However I've always been quite snobbish in my view on San Antonio. Location for clubs and Bora etc.

However me and missus are here now and Mambo was beautiful and the West End? Well shit I feel quite at home!

Probably stay here for next visit. Pdb feels a bit boring at the moment.

We stayed in PDB this year and was quite put off. Unavoidably being hassled by PR's and drug dealers as you walked down the road.

It is obviously nicer to be able to get to the town and Space/Bora etc but the nice thing about San An's strip is that you can avoid the hassles.

Mind you this was the first time ever that I enjoyed having earl(ier) nights so we could enjoy the day :O

We've not been out past 11pm this trip. Right now I've not the desire. Doing Enter closing tomorrow but won't be there too late. I think June wounded me more than I realised!

Was going to post something similar about Playa D'en Bossa so was interesting to read similar... have been down a few times this summer and the Main Street PR'ing seems so in your face / aggressive / full on - said no thanks to one PR and got a mouthful of abuse one night. Also find it so expensive for drinks in the bars on the Main Street compared to San Antonio

Not a fan of pdb myself I just don't get all the hype generally the run of the mill bar's aren't very good Tantra being the only one I'd readily venture into for a pre party the beach and bora bora can be hit or miss food wise not that great & expensive but the price you pay to stay in hotels is shocking considering the place smells like sewage spent a bit of time there on my last visit too Ibiza town and San an imo are better option I think

Can't beat a night in Ibiza Town, love it

When I say June I mean the Month. Not some random woman! Haha

One think I will say. The Garbi. Lovely hotel. Food is amazing.

I know Im going to get some stick for this but I think I have gone the opposite way to you OP. Having spent my 23rd (I think!) year in Ibiza of which the majority has been in San Antonio I have decided that this year was my last and will in future be staying in other resorts. Majority of these factors are down to:

1. Sick of being offered drugs by random black and other guys everytime I walk along the promenade or the sun set strip.
2. Sick of all the PR's, the majority of which are young 20 something british girls who only speak English
3. Sun set strip is now like the west end (PR's, Bouncers, stag do's) and is way over commercial.
4. The whole place is really dirty, dog mess everywhere, bottles of beer, broken glass, vomit etc. Loads of graffiti,
5. Fed up of being hassled by black women trying to grab your wrist and put a band on it and demand money (why the hell don't the police do something about this!)
6. Tired of it being like a british migrant town full of your british 'yoofs' who think they own the place by largeing it up all the time.
7. finally.....,my age (52), I think ive just out grown the place

Every time in Ibiza I always hire a car and visit virtually all of the resorts when Im there and really cant believe Im on the same Island when I visit places such as Es Cana, Figueretes, Santa Eulalia, Cala Longa and even Ibiza town to some degree.

In future I will be either staying in Ibiza town or Figueretes where it feels a little more diverse and 'real' for me.

Your post comes across a little racist if I am to be honest. Surprised you have stayed there that many times with such strong feelings?

I do agree that that the place needs cleaned up and I think a lot of younger people of all nationalities need educated on cleaning up there mess and locals on cleaning up their dog shit.

Sorry, not meant to sound racist at all, simply refer to the black guys and women as that's there colour and the ones to tend to hassle the tourists (not sure if that's the correct Politically Correct way to refer to them, maybes should have said Senagalise). This year I had some of them tell me to f off as I wouldn't stop and talk!

I think the feelings have grown over the last few years and I suppose it fell into a habit really.

I understand what you are trying to say, just a couple of references to these people (yes, Senagalese) as was well as the British migrant comment maybe came across that way. Apologies as it obviously wasn't intended thay way.

The way I see it, the majority of these people are trying to earn a living. I always make an effort to speak to them and know a few by name over the years. I have witnessed some of the hassle they get and it is disgusting. If you politely say 'no thanks' they are fine. I do agree the women can be annoying and it was worse this year.

The British worker thing probably has also worsened. Not all, but a number think that after a couple of months in Ibiza they run the place. They just don't get it at all. This isn't just a San An thing and I believe it is worse in PDB.

After re reading your post, I probably agree and understand most of your points but don't see them being particular to San Antonio.

Why has this year in particular been the tipping point for you?

Anyway, this is meant to be a positive post about San An! :) Love it, definitely the best place on the island by a mile (although some things could be improved!)

Both San An and PDB have their good and bad points. But for me, I generally stay in the PDB, Figuertas, Talamanca, just because they are a bit more grown up (dont get me wrong I loved San An when I was in my 20's) but now it is not so much for me, same goes for staying in the centre of PDB.

San An is generally a nicer town that PDB, the harbour, fountains, beach, bay and some of the most famous bars in the world, the thing it doesnt have is the best clubs in the world, it has 2 ok ones, and a load of cheap ones

What PDB has going for it is clubbing, location wise if you are on a clubbing holiday its ideal. But the beach is crowded, dirty, noisey, the bars are crumby, and the main 'strip' is an eye sore!

The problem with the women and the string, drug dealers, hookers etc is in both resorts.

Figueretas wins for me these days, nice resort, prominade, shops, bars, close to the old town, close to PDB (but far enough away!), little of no hookers/drug dealers/string women hassle when out at night.

^^^ that's a fair assessment. Hear ya on Figueretas, too. Ideal location if you don't want that carry-on 24/7.

This is exactly the way I feel but probably better phrased that I tried to say it!!

Im staying in Figueretas in October for the very same reasons

I have no problem with the lucky lucky men, just polite no thanks and all fine. Some even say thanks back lol.

The few women along front trying to shake your hand and stick a band on and charge you for it are another matter. Very aggressive and persistent. Even when you're direct and firm about saying no!

Everyone has to make a crust and I don't think selling bands or "sunglasses" was Thierry initial career choice, so I always try to bare that in mind.
