it's fairly obvious that the problem with ibiza tourism is that it's most visible part is thousands and thousands of people gathering in the same few places at antisocial hours every night. just ask anyone who lives near a football ground if they'd like a match on every night at 2 am!!

i don't think that jose public wants super rich tourists, just some normal ones would do nicely thank you.

People should go to ibiza with a "Peace and love spirit" ... instead of that in san antonio mainly they come with "I'm the king of manchester World tour" ... or a "Let's get wasted and go to play2 spirit ..." LOVE IBIZA

i don't think blaming the west end massive solves any problems for those who live close to pacha, privilege and amnesia - ask the neighbours there about disco blight, noise, disturbance, traffic jams, litter, botellones and so on. you only have to see how much lower house prices are in those areas, particularly san rafael, compared to other more hospitable parts of the island to see how they are affected.

So what do you suggest stephen? Close down all the clubs or limit their capacity??? Or maybe even ban house music and all of its followers from Ibiza?

If Ibiza wants tourists nightlife is a way of attracting them too and of course there will be pros and cons...anyway i totally understand the residents problems but closing and banning is not way...problems like this exist in almost every young people holiday destination in the world...you want the money from them?good you have to accept some things.you don't want the money?kick them out and find a way to bring more families over.

i hadn't suggested any solution, and not having a complete picture i don't have a perfect solution. i merely point out that unlike the vast majority of other tourist destinations in the med ibiza's problems are caused by the logistics of crowds of people in just a few places..............isn't that fairly obvious?

Kicking out the kind of people that cause the problem is the way.Blaming and harming a whole culture that has grown within Ibiza for decades, though,is wrong.

Anyway as i said, its not the bars and its owners fault making deals like drink as much as you want for 20 euros etc.its the peoples fault that don't have the balance in their mind to think what is acceptable behaviour and what is not.those should be kicked off.

it won't happen, because ibiza isn't a 'normal' tourist destination.

from whatever way you look at it , ibiza is anything but normal, it is different, special. and i know you have even said this yourself stephen.

i think normal tourism is exactly what ibiza doesn't need. normal tourists are probably those least likely to get ibiza's charm.

sorry. i have no idea what music people who go to clubs listen to. i should not have made the mistake of generalising.

main problem with guardia was at the zoo project parking area entry!

every time we went there, there were many of the men in green and there is no way u can pass them without some conversation with them...

one time they actually stopped us for a check - believe me u dont wanna expireance this! very emberassing way of being checked by police, the car was checked all over including the baggage and so on...

i saw people getting to Zoo from another way around, somewhere through the wood behind the parking... this can be the safest way i suppose :)
.

an another 6 san an bars have been fined with 800€ and got their music equipments sealed for the same reason.....

Hefty Penalty

San Antonio continued with its fight against noise pollution
by handing out a record fine last week.

One of the most popular bars on the sunset strip received the €40,000 sanction
after the Town Hall hired a private company to investigate noise levels
which were taken at a block of residential apartments close by.

Levels were being broken by 19.27 decibels,
with the maximum allowed in the area just 40 decibels.

However, the bar will be able to appeal against the decision,
and it is expected the fine will be lowered considerably.

The owner confirmed he would be appealing, claiming the music in the next door bar
had been temporarily stopped while the measurement was taken
ensuring the reading was not valid.

A total of six bars have been fined so far this year for exceeding regulated noise levels,
each of whom received an €800 fine.

how can the locals be pissed off with the tourists, they need to think of the income that san an makes and how many jobs is there...

look at the figeuretas/es vive area, all those bars and cafes used to be busy and it used to be a busy wee place, now everything is shut.

look at falaraki... the police started arresting drunk tourists and putting them in jail
falaraki has since died.. nobody goes there anymore

they maybe want more respect etc but drunk people from britain dont care about anything.. its not gonna change

if the locals want to change it to a better place, why dont they start with getting rid of the big fat arfican woman that side outside bar m and grab you , circle you and pick your pockets
