Edwin Hawkins has died at the age of 74. Mr Hawkins was a Grammy winner and credited with pioneering urban gospel music, mixing hymns with secular music to appeal to a wider audience. The UK number two hit Oh Happy Day sold over seven million copies worldwide in 1969.
