So then, i'll admit, i went awol, but i thought i'd get the ball rolling on the user reviews.
Party/Event: Cocoon Opening 2009!!
Club: Amnesia
Date: 15th June 2009
DJs: Main Room - Sven, Chris Tietjen. Terrace - Ricardo, Cassy
Cost of entry (Also, how you got in/where you got tix from, etc): free of course , but presale tickets were 40 euro and the door was about 60.
Cost of drinks: no idea sorry, was knocking some free champers!!
Transport (how you got there and back, how much it cost, where from and to): by car, managed to find a place to park (by chance) in the main car park
Review (50-300 words, more if it's really well written):
So then, firstly excuse the lack of photos, you know how amnesia are......and i was also too busy dancing. But i had a great time at Cocoon opening, word on the street was that Cocoon sales were slow and i wondered whether the bubble had burst somewhat.
However, when i arrived at about 3, the club was really busy in both rooms and the VIP was, as always for cocoon, full to bursting. In the main room, Christ Tietjen was dropping Research by Markus Fix, so a really housey tip before Sven came along and gave his usual mixed bag of weird and wonderful electronic music, including as always lots of epic proggy type of bliss.
Then came the terrace and Cassy playing the funkiest, sleaziest, rockin berlin deep house around. In fact, it was very much more house than you might expect from the panoramabar resident, playing Nick Curly's 'Say Something' and looping the crowd into frenzy with the first half of Reboot's 'Ronson'. As much as I appreciate everything that Ricardo encompasses and stands for, i have to say i've personally never really got him entirely, kind of like how i'm equally amazed and confused by jackson pollack's art.
anyway, after what was a brilliant set by cassy, it was all downhill after that for me. BUT, cocoon is back, the doubters can be assured of that and if the music for the opening is anything to go by........HOUSE MUSIC RULES OK!!!
