Restaurant news & reviews

ses casetes, sant mateu
if you've never had them, try 'huevos rotos', either with jamón or with foie gras! but everything's good there.
Love this place and the huevos rotos tasted especially good after our excellent hike!

I would add that unless you book in advance, avoid Sunday there as it is very busy and likely all booked up.

seeing there are quite a few people here enjoying the more off the beaten path restaurants and real ibicenco food spots rather than the fancy shiny places, here are two more suggestions for you. both of them are located in the island's rural northwest and because a lot of the hikes I guide are in that area I stop by those places quite often, sometimes just for a coffee, sometimes for lunch or dinner.

ses casetes, sant mateu
a lovely countryside restaurant with a pretty extensive menu - if you've never had them, try 'huevos rotos', either with jamón or with foie gras! but everything's good there. in summer, they have live music tuesday and friday nights. just across the street you've got the trendy juntos house, if you end up there be prepared to pay lots more (but the food was good too the two times I have been so far)

sa palmera, santa àgnes
the neighbour of can cosmi which @Horrified Onlooker has mentioned further up, just across the street. I also love can cosmi and their tortilla is truly perfect, plus toni cosmi is a proper ibicenco original figure! sa palmera I like a lot in the summer because you've got lots of tables in the shade and their kitchen is usually open all day (while can cosmi does lunch, then close and then open again for dinner) and that can come in handy. I like lots of stuff on their menue, but my favourites are the frita de sepia (cuttlefish) or frita de pulpo (octopus). both sa palmera as well as can cosmi have very fair prices.

thank me later and say hi if you ever see me there! :)
Frita de sepia 🤤 😍

There is a restaurant payés where I go almost every Wednesday in the off-season (for the bullit) Bar Toni Curreu ,( the road from santa -Eulalia to san Carlos ) which is really nice and the food is good , there is a shaded garden (the prices are also very reasonable , bullit for 15€ ) you often meet people from the island of all ages and nationalities, lots of artists, it's very cool, it fell like that time is slowing down there, I recommend it 🙂

If you know you know

Does Ibiza Town have any nice dinner restaurant with good food (price level 20-30€ main dishes) and beautiful atmosphere?

There’s Anita’s for traditional, Restaurante San Carlos for some great grill options and PaloSanto for different level Mexican by the looks of it. Haven’t been to the latter, but good reports on here from what I remember.

That place is special. So many amazing memories of afternoons spent there. The man himself will be part of island folklore for the ages and the family will carry the story on.

No menu. One dish for lunch. Full house every season. Magic.

I wonder is it reservations only for the wake 😉

RIP.

we visited a lot of places last week - try to give a quick review

Monday
lunch - Vista La Puerto (San An Bay)
reasonbly priced - we had a burger and a salad both v nice. staff v good

dinner - Yenuina (SAB)
staff were fantastic, helpful and attentive
food was terrific, prices decent too

Tuesday
lunch - Playa Bella apts cafe
ok, nothing fancy but enjoyable

dinner - Johnnys (SAB)
fantastic burgers are v good prices, staff good too

Wednesday
lunch - El Deseo (Santa Eularia)
lovely Mexican food with a beautiful view

dinner - back to Vista la Puerto
as my daughter loved their spag bol we went for dinner and had the seafood paella
delicious and the price was good for the amount of food we got

Thursday
lunch - Cafe S'Ancora (San Antonio)
popped in here on our way to the aquarium, food was good for a light lunch but...
it was starting to get busier and there was 1 waitress out on the floor
we took that on board and were patient but after telling us she'd be right over - she took the order from a family that had just arrived
when we started to leave she was apologetic and got us sorted for food and drinks
not her fault, the management was pathetic

dinner - Relish (SAB)
sensational food, we had 5 tapas between 2 of us and it was a perfect amount - so inventive and interesting - best meal we had
staff were really great as well

Friday
lunch - at the beach so tried Freedom chinguirito (Playa de Pinet)
another great meal with beautifully presented and yummy salads

dinner - Pinochos (Ibiza Town)
night out in the town couldn't not go to Pinochos
I've been going there since i was probably about 5 years old and its always a tradition of us to go
pizzas were the usual wonderful standard and prices v good

Saturday
lunch - Piranha (SAB)
service very ibizan timed but thats the norm and is not an issue (not for the table next to us with lots of groans and tantrums)
i had the Creole Sausages and they were brilliant

dinner - Urban Lounge (SAB)
a great place, playing good music and trying to get an atmosphere going
food was v.good at decent prices and staff were brilliant
the cooling mist in the bar was v welcome in the intense heat

Sunday

lunch - back at Playa Pinet so Freedom again
as before, good food with no complaints

dinner - Pom Thai
we used to go to Banyan Palace and loved it so tried this
not quite as intimate as BP was but the food is as good
our curries were delicious
only gripe here was the lack of a kids menu or even the staff offering options to make something my daughter would like

overall - no bad food at any place & some food was exceptional (Relish in particular)
