Restaurant news & reviews

seeing there are quite a few people here enjoying the more off the beaten path restaurants and real ibicenco food spots rather than the fancy shiny places, here are two more suggestions for you. both of them are located in the island's rural northwest and because a lot of the hikes I guide are in that area I stop by those places quite often, sometimes just for a coffee, sometimes for lunch or dinner.

ses casetes, sant mateu
a lovely countryside restaurant with a pretty extensive menu - if you've never had them, try 'huevos rotos', either with jamón or with foie gras! but everything's good there. in summer, they have live music tuesday and friday nights. just across the street you've got the trendy juntos house, if you end up there be prepared to pay lots more (but the food was good too the two times I have been so far)

sa palmera, santa àgnes
the neighbour of can cosmi which @Horrified Onlooker has mentioned further up, just across the street. I also love can cosmi and their tortilla is truly perfect, plus toni cosmi is a proper ibicenco original figure! sa palmera I like a lot in the summer because you've got lots of tables in the shade and their kitchen is usually open all day (while can cosmi does lunch, then close and then open again for dinner) and that can come in handy. I like lots of stuff on their menue, but my favourites are the frita de sepia (cuttlefish) or frita de pulpo (octopus). both sa palmera as well as can cosmi have very fair prices.

thank me later and say hi if you ever see me there! :)
Frita de sepia 🤤 😍

There is a restaurant payés where I go almost every Wednesday in the off-season (for the bullit) Bar Toni Curreu ,( the road from santa -Eulalia to san Carlos ) which is really nice and the food is good , there is a shaded garden (the prices are also very reasonable , bullit for 15€ ) you often meet people from the island of all ages and nationalities, lots of artists, it's very cool, it fell like that time is slowing down there, I recommend it 🙂
