S'Espardell and Sa Sal in PdB on fire...

Es Rebrots, Portinatx.
Not the first time I talk about this place here, but it's easily my favourite restaurant in SJ district (including SJ, St Miguel, St Vincent, Benirras, etc...)
The place is superb, the food fine and gourmet, the prices correct and the service perfect 👌
Go there, you will thank me later.
I went to San Miguel, Pizza Brother, it remains a sure value, regarding Es Rebrots, I have already been there a few times, you already recommended it to me a few years ago, and yes it is a great place on all levels🙂

Did you try NIU?
Same owners, same quality.

Yes , went last year in october, really like it as well

It’s actually the only 2 places i know in Portinatx ( Es Rebrots and Niu ) + the small places for a sandwich or a tapas
I don’t actually go to Portinatx often , should go more as i like it but I live in San Antonio so it’s a bit far from there …

S'Espardell and Sa Sal in PdB on fire...

I heard rumors about this already in the winter, but I didn't think it was true. By the way, did you know that a new restaurant is coming to replace Salvaje behind La Sirena?
it's now nirvana, an indian restaurant. recommended to mrs ste by gastro dj paul reynolds on the day we were leaving so didn't get to try it, but he's usually spot on with his opinions.

My kind of homage to Amigo from a recent couple of weeks on Ibiza.

In short, we had a brilliant time. Despite its well documented problems and what you read in the news, Ibiza is still the best place on earth and the local hospitality still great.

Taco Paco - Santa Eulalia

Years ago my wife and I went here on the first night of a holiday and it's become a slightly ridiculous tradition now. Prawn ceviche, chicken wings in hot green sauce, truly great passionfruit margaritas and a Narcos soundtrack. Lovely. Always seem to see Villalobos in there, oddly.

Aquarium Cap Blanc - Cala Gracio

Gave this a try after Amigo mentioned it a few weeks back on here - an excellent tip! This was the first sardinada of the summer (Fridays and Saturdays only - ends in September). I think we were the only non-locals in there and there was a good vibe for the 8.30 sitting as the sun was starting to set. Huge plate of sardines and ensalada payesa (potatoes, peppers etc) which we just about managed to finish. We were then slightly stunned when we were brought the exact same plate again, which we had to decline. Hadn't realised that it's basically unlimited sardines. Thoroughly recommend this experience but make sure you're hungry when you go...It's vanishingly rare that you come out of a restaurant in Ibiza thinking "that was a total bargain". You also get access to the aquarium too, which is pretty small and not that exciting, but worth a look - apparently standard Ibiza school trip fodder.

La Paloma - San Llorenc

We accidentally stumbled upon La Paloma just after it first opened about 20 years ago, loved it and and have been going ever since. It was smaller and more ramshackle in those days, and it was great as you could still see some of the original hippies kicking about - old American dudes in robes with their Spanish grandchildren running about. I heard that the owner's mother was in the Osho/Bhagwan cult, which legend has it first introduced MDMA to the island in the 80s, and used profusely in their practices. I often wonder when I see her pottering about in the garden. It's changed quite a lot over the years - there was a period about 10 years ago when it seemed like THE place to go for the West London BOHO crowd, all air kissing Jade Jagger and generally being a bit insufferable. Nowadays it's turned into a bit of a Dutch 'Live Laugh Love' colony. But the food is still consistently good and the service has much improved - we went to the cafe in the daytime and had first rate Middle Eastern shawarma and sabich. It's really all about the exceptional bread they make.

Can Colomaret - Cala Nova

We had originally intended to spend the day at Cala Llenya, but the chiringuito hadn't been constructed and there were no loungers at all on the beach (anybody know why?). Even the supermarket up the road has closed down. I later heard that the old chiringuito couple are being kicked out and the Cala Bassa Beach Club people are taking it over, which is horrendous, if true.

So we walked around the coast to Cala Nova and had grilled squid and chips while sat on white plastic chairs with our feet in the sand - what's not to like? Though we made the basic mistake of turning up on a Sunday afternoon when it was rammed and we had to go on a waiting list for an hour. The lad managing the list (among other things) was having a very stressful day and on the verge of losing it every time a punter approached him. Last seen smoking a cigarette behind the shack with a thousand yard stare. Hope he's ok. The other staff were absolutely lovely.

Jockey Club - Salinas

I'm not a massive fan of beach clubs - too noisy, too expensive, too many bell ends. But I have a bit of a nostalgic soft spot for the Jockey, where the prices are merely 'unreasonable' rather than 'absolutely gouge your eyes out'. I like that it's the same staff year after year, some of whom are now getting on quite a bit. It's cool but it's not too 'up its own arse'. I have the same thing every time I go - the seafood risotto with a tomato marinara sauce. The carob bread with alioli is highly recommended. Kenneth Bager made a brief cameo behind the bar too. The setting is obviously beautiful and the loungers 'only' 10e, which isn't that bad considering. I love it early in the morning before the hordes arrive. The Lucky Lucky situation is absolutely berserk though - it's like a Hawker's Bazaar on there. Good luck to them, they all seem like lovely people but being accosted every 30 seconds is unreal. I've been back home for nearly a week but I'm still waking up in the night in a cold sweat hearing "Hay agua...cerveza...San Miguel..Coronita...DRINKY DRINKY" There's also something quite amusing/depressing about the first time that the club parade people stop giving you wristbands as they (correctly) think you're too old. I did get one eventually, but laughed out loud when I saw it was for David Guetta...oh, and the ANTS costume people could really do with some new schtick.

Can Cosmi - Santa Agnes

Another old favourite. I don't think anything has changed here in about 100 years. A sleepy village with more stray cats than people. You really can't believe that the SanAn madness is going on just a couple of kilometres away. The Spanish omelette here is still a thing of beauty - runny enough to be delicious but make you slightly wonder about salmonella at the same time. Afterwards, it's a stroll to the cliffs to watch the sunset and look down at Ses Margalides.

Can Pilot - San Rafel

Hadn't been here for years but another great spot for a long, lazy lunch. Largely locals/Spanish so you're guaranteed to hear a few rounds of 'Cumpleanos Feliz' from a Sunday afternoon birthday with bored teenagers looking at their phones. This might have been my favourite meal of the holiday - a perfect secreto, fried potatoes with garlic, padron peppers, then the best flao I've found to date. I'd asked a local where the best one was but he reckoned that the restaurants just buy it in and to get the good stuff you have to find an abuela making it in her kitchen, which is kind of a problem. Anyway, this one was apparently homemade and pretty stellar. My wife finds the goat's cheese and mint combo to be deeply weird, so maybe a bit of an acquired taste. The closest thing I can liken it to is a Yorkshire curd tart. Anybody else have recommendations for good places???

The Giri Cafe - San Joan

We were staying in San Joan so popped in here for breakfast a couple of times. Set in a beautiful garden with a cool Jazz soundtrack, it's a lovely place to start the day with good coffee and inventive takes on breakfast staples (avocado toast, eggs benedict etc). It's a bit mad on Sundays though due to it being market day, though you can catch some traditional ball pages dancing in front of the church - which never fails to make me think "this is the strangest thing I've ever seen".

The Boat House - Cala San Vicente

We gave this a try as it is currently Number 1 Ibiza restaurant on TripAdvisor. The food is undeniably good and decent value - a large menu where you can basically have any kind of cuisine you want - Spanish, Italian, Middle Eastern, fish and chips etc. I had a Thai fish and seafood curry that was top notch. That said, I did kind of think you could be literally anywhere in the world, a kind of 'international bland'.

Can Gat - Cala San Vicente

Nice traditional Ibicenco seafood restaurant right on the seafront, proper white tablecloths, friendly owners. A lovely place to while away a lazy afternoon. Had a seafood paella that was good, though perhaps not up there with the very best (Ses Boques, obvs).

Edit: oops nearly forgot:

Yenuina - Cala de Bou

They've moved into bigger premises, and the menu is much bigger, now including grilled fish and meat on a Josper grill. Only had a quick bowl of pasta which was still really good. They do seem to like the most unappetising settings - here a terrace on a traffic choked road in Cala de Bou.

Els Coronda d'en Celleras

Pick up organic strawberries from a hut at the side of the road between Santa Gertrudis and San Miguel.

Vivi's ice cream - Santa Gertrudis

New outpost has opened in Santa Gertrudis. Great place to get an ice cream in the evening and sit in the lovely square. Dark chocolate and orange was top drawer.
