the mans dead, a mistake was made, let the inquiry judge what went wrong etc.

oh, and nice to see the stop the war coalition having a publicised vigil outside Stockwell station. didnt see them having one for the other 55 dead from few weeks back.

obviously not got jobs to go to or ran out of trees to hug!!!!

An innocent man was killed by the police I think it's obvious why is having so much coverage

how about coverage on the root causes of all terrorism. like it or not, western govt foreign policies around the world for their own self interests dont help. (Ken Livingston said something along the same lines last week).

compare the next 2 scenarios.

1. 'Liberating Iraq' - because Saddam is a bad man and has WMD and was gonna threaten the world, continued to torture his own people.

no WMD were found. but lots of mass graves.

2. Zimbabwe - f*** alls been done. land snatched from the white farmers and redistributed, therefore half killing the economy, and now the bulldozing of 'Illegal settlements'.

dont see govts rushing in and putting that "right". why? because whats there to gain from it? if we (in the west) are so consumed by putting right wrong doings, why cant be at least be consistant?

just wish we'd stop trying to tell the rest of the world that we are more civilised than the rest (terrorists and all).

sooner the "west" stop meddling and trying to clear their guilt for exploiting the so called 3rd world and start putting in motion things that will benefit the WHOLE planet.

point i was making is, tragic as it was, the mans dead. aint gonna bring him back. and if people want to put blame on anyone, go back in the lists of reasons why this is coming about.

what people tend to forget is, we're animals. we eat, sleep, f***, and try to survive and ensure our genes get passed down.

i just wanna live my life and could not give 2 shits about the rest of the world. if anyone thinks "we can change the world", why doesnt everyone then? - prob cos theyre due down the pub or have got "better things to do" unless theres a rock concert in aid of something.

i can confidently point out to you that tens of thousands of asians would have made bus/tube journeys in the capital and across the UK today with no problem whatsoever.

my point was that these "people" are using a "misenterpretation" of something that is written in a book 100's of years ago in order to justify what they are doing!!

you can flower it up as much as you want mate and come back with all the deep stuff that you like, the bottom line is that these people are murdering innocent people, in our capital, people who are just going about their daily business, people like my girlfriend, your mother, my brother, your friend.

I dont give a shit about their cause or their "struggle"
I like to know that when i kiss my girlfriend goodbye each morning that I will be lucky enough to go back to her that night, that is not certain at the moment and it should be my right and the right of everybody else in this country, it is what our granparents fought and died for.

I think most Asians would be ok about being searched and questioned in light of recent events. I personally would if someone of my description was bombing and killing people.
Jon's dad is from Dublin, and he used to drive around London in his job at the height of the IRA bombings. He would be stopped nearly every day and questioned by the police, simply because people had heard his accent, but he said he never used to mind, and he could always prove his innocence.

Suspect your Dad was fairly lucky Becki - the Police were a lot less enlightened about dealing with different people back then. I know lots of old Irish guys who were stopped, searched and battered for the sins of a minority of their countrymen in the worst days of IRA bombings.
