*** Police at Amnesia (right now) ***

if the club is being used to launder drug money, the would explain why tax and drug squad are both involved. I think that is why East Village closed down in Shoreditch a year or so back.

Is there a genuine risk of this place shutting before Sept? Or is it too hard to tell?
Hard to tell, as l said will just have to wait to see how it goes. Things like this can take can along time to fully go to court.. Hope so as l'm over in September myself

The amount of money these clubs must pay the government to run will most surely mean that there is very little chance of this meaning ''the end'' ......don't worry.

Interesting to see. Did they get too big for their boots? Not pay the right people anymore? Always assumed the big clubs were pretty safe and in the pockets of those that they needed to be. So much cash flying around would not surprise me if there were some accounting errors...

You think that a club charging however much money a drink and for water bottles is in the clear, but even here in the US, I'm amazed at how often bars/nightclubs get in trouble with the tax man. I think part of it is since it's still mostly a cash business. Sometimes they feel they can either "be creative" to skim a bigger profit or when they're struggling, can put off paying taxes to take care of other business-related expenses first.

I've seen many clubs/pubs raided over the years. Mostly local feds looking for a few extra pasetas or euros to keep the local brasses in business.

This seems a bit more extreme, seems to be people from the mainland and Mallorca over (from what I read). Don't think these people leave with a brown envelope stuffed with 50's so things could get interesting.

Very very much doubt it's drugs. Place must take 250 grand at the door on a decent night and more than that behind the bars. You'd need to be shipping a shite load of gear through it to risk losing that kind of dough.

Researchers at the Central Operations Unit of the Civil Guard have used throughout the day picks and other tools to find hiding places in the offices of Amnesia. Records resumed this morning after it was interrupted yesterday at midnight, after 17 hours at the offices. The agents have also taken the place a money counting machine. Sources familiar with the investigation say that agents have at least found two million euros.

I suppose its a bit of a stretch to say they found the 2 million euros in the hiding places but a fair assumption as well, no....?

the way I understand the piece is that they have found two millions on the first day (but not hidden) and then on the second day the brought tools to see IF there is any money hidden anywhere
