Plans for a “NEW” San Antonio

Reading through all this - about an area I know little about - makes me ask; if the "typical" San An punters are faced with restrictions - won't they eventually migrate to somewhere else on the island where the bar owners find out they can make $$$'s by opening late and playing music as loud as they can? So in future whilst San An may be a touch quieter,. the authorities then have to clamp down somewhere else?

Point being, we know what San An is like and if we don't like it we keep away, rather have the football songs sung there than, say, on the gay streets of the old town, or the front at the port?

Or is the point that locals who have to live in San An are so fed up?

The gay men sing football songs as well

Tony Pike also mentioned in his book that some British gangsters offered to buy Ku for cash back in the day but the owner wasn’t interested. Imagine there’s lots of dirty money in Ibiza.

Theres no way me and friends would have gone to Ibiza if the main partying (when you're 18/19) area shut at 3am. Since then we've all been back loads of times and spent thousands on the island. I think young groups will see those closing times and go somewhere else definitely. A lot of people wont fall in love with the rest of Ibiza and wont be contributing to its economy for 20+ years like our lot and others undoubtedly have.
Massive own goal I think .

understand your point but the problem starts before that - that very young age group hasn't been coming to the island anymore for a while now (at least not in the numbers you'd want).

Agreed. That 18 - 20(?) age group can't afford it, certainly from the UK. I was in a position to go in the summer between two of my university years for my first trip when I was 20.
Don't think many in that age group (combined with a weak pound and ever increasingly UK based living costs) would go now.

To be honest I forgot about that trend now. It will be interesting to see how it goes this season.

About when did this trend become noticeable? Would be interesting to compare impressions with last trip.

gradually over the last few years, with the factors of cheaper croatia festivals and more expensive ibiza accommodation having a big impact on it. see, ibiza was never a cheap place. but the very low budget crowd (normally the youngest peeps coming here) has simply been priced out lately. people have realised that though and generally it's gonna be interesting to watch what happens this summer.
