What are people's views on this?
I don't know much about the politics or the locals but as a tourist I think this is bullshit
Aye the west end can be quite scummy but not much different from a lot of other Spanish resorts aimed at young people
 
I had a couple of wooden bar stools thrown at me on the West End last year. I'm all for some kind of control! But I think simply if there was more authority present it would be calmer - who knows?

I guess they are just doing what they can to crack down on some of the shit that happens down there!

it's nonsense.
only thing that's gonna happen is that every drunk who won't afford tickets for a club will stumble to the beach or other public spaces and cause noise and problems. or they'll just continue on their hotel balconies and wake up quiet guests. you'll always have these kind of tourists - so better to concentrate them in one controlled, safe environment than all over the beach or hotels at night.
 
Yeah what do they think is going to happen at midnight, people aren't just going to go home or straight to a club at 12 and they ain't all fitting inside these bars so I reckon people will still will just be standing in the streets.
I don't mind the Westend that much although its def not the safest place if your too drunk or too stupid

:eek: Who threw them? Were you targeted or just a free for all?
I've see it kick off a few times there over the years and if you don't get your bearings quickly and move away it can be quite scary, especially when mashed.
I often wondered does anyone even watch the cameras installed a few years ago.
I hope wips isn't affected, some great mornings there.
 
the spanish authorities should declare all out war on these types of dinosaur tourists. drive them off the island forever.

and that also goes for your tat peddlers, thieves, whores, gangsters, VIPs, gangmasters, exploitative landlords too

judging by what I've seen in the spanish media over the last few months, people really have finally had enough

reclaim the streets for the good guys

I agree, the area should just be more controlled instead of trying to kick everyone out of it at midnight - because they definitely will not all fit inside. Rubbish situation really!

Not nice when that happens, I've seen it a few times, once during the day with which started with lads singing football songs , f***in nobs. Pretty surreal as walked up to del mar and it was like a different world, people chilling and smiling faces.
Only plus side if any is that these people generally burn out by 2am.
