paradise vs hyte

... ah, what's also funny to see suddenly music on PR teams / team members are now heavily supporting paradise. ibiza clubbing politics at its best...or worst, depending on how you look at it.

Oh dear. The top guys at Amnesia can't be very impressed with that. I get it though. You've gotta look after your own interests.

Also - with PRs - there's a fair amount of "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" - and much the same as customers don't want to go to the same venue more than 1/2 a week - if you're already being sorted out in Amnesia at Music On, you'd want to mix it up and get some treatment in a different venue the rest of the week. Makes sense that they would do favours for favours for their Paradise-counterparts more than their Hyte "colleagues". And given the choice, where would you rather be?! The bangin' party! or the the one that's half empty?

agree their line ups are generally really good. and also agree that lots of people go to paradise instead. but let's also not forget that there are loads of people who already go to either cocoon or music on (or even both) and then they simply don't want to go to the same club 3 times within 5 nights.

as mentioned earlier (but maybe it was another thread), the opening night of hyte was really busy as was the second week, but then numbers started to dwindle and especially since paradise is up and running, there are normally only enough people for one floor really. often also the dynamic changes midway through the night - say first off, the main room is busy and then suddenly everyone is over on the terrace and the main room is empty.

I've said this before - great artists overall, but it's a bold move to put a third weekly techno night into amnesia, also considering all the other competition on the island. I was always very vocal about this and said it wasn't gonna be easy for them...but they know it too; a few days ago I spoke to someone very much involved into hyte and they are aware it's gonna take some time. ah, what's also funny to see (up to a certain extent...but actually it isn't really) is that suddenly music on PR teams / team members are now heavily supporting paradise. ibiza clubbing politics at its best...or worst, depending on how you look at it.

Agree 100% Stivi. I am heading out for a week over September 7th and have had this exact dilemma. Cocoon would always be my priority, and with the form Carola is in at the moment you cant miss MusicOn. Regardless of whether a heavy hitter like Loco Dice was playing or not, I wouldn't want to spend 3/5 nights in the same club. Not that sharpest move IMO having so many techno nights in the same club.

However saying that Paradise's lineups are so strong this year, I struggle to see anyone having huge numbers elsewhere on a Wednesday night.

Dc10 line up for paradise is strong when we go on 10th sept. Ive chosen loco dice as i have unfinished business, didnt really get to see him a few years back as we arrived late and missed him when he played birmingham a few months back. Im going amnesia twice for music on and hyte

Hitting dc10 for circo loco on the monday. So its worked out quite well for me

You mean 9th September? Not sure if the special guest for Hyte that night has been confirmed yet, unless you've got some hot off the press Intel?

This looks like another decisions, decisions scenario.

I'll be there on the 22nd and 29th.

Hyte lineup looks ok on the 22nd...but not sure how Harvey will do when I want a tech night? Lawyer is at paradise that night.. So that could be good .

July 29th Hyte looks good as it's Chris Liebing and Marcel Dettman...unfortunately, I need to be at the airport at 8 on the 30th(why do I do this???) so that's not going to work.

I never thought of going to Paradise (July 22nd) but maybe will give it a go!

That's the joy of Ibiza...no matter how many times i go, I always come back having missed out on something having had to make a tough decision...and then just have to go the next year!

Really wanted to do Hyte on Sept 23 but it's the same night as the Paradise Closing party...I'll see what people say about Hyte over the next few weeks but so far, it doesnt sound like the best night to do at Amnesia.

It can be a tricky one if you're like me, and probably most visitors to the island, out there for just a week or so. I'm going for 5 nights in September which means just one in Amnesia (wouldn't want to spend at least 40% of my night time clubbing at one venue). If that's the case, you're going to be hard-pressed to find that many who will make Hyte their one and only trip to Amnesia when they have such strong alternatives. Couple that with Paradise now being well-established enough that you can have your visit to DC10 in without it having to be Circoloco (or at least that's how I'm justifying it to myself this year as my friends booked flights that arrive too late to do Circoloco any justice, amateurs!)

That's the thing... for people who are only a 2/3 hour flight and can do a couple of mini trips throughout the season, it's fine... but when I only go once every year or two, and for just over a week, you need to plan well.

I also just don't do a clubbing holiday. The beaches and food are very important too!

With the Paradise night, it opens 11 pm? So do people start to get there midnight/1? Or does it start later like most other clubs (getting there around 2/3?)

I learnt the hard way

Good question...I assumed it started the same time as Circoloco, glad I checked

That's my thing....you build up to the trip all year and dont want to make the wrong choices. I'm too old and too into seeing the rest of the island to go out every night. Want to finally do Carl Cox this year and showing my new gf Amnesia is way up the list...but choosing the night is tough. Music On closing is my choice but it sounds like it may be insanely busy. Both of us really want to see Maceo Plex but at the moment, the feedback just isnt that good.

I made a similar mistake to this a few years ago at We Love... First time out there and not having done the proper research I thought it'd be going off from the afternoon onwards. They let us in early evening with Space completely empty. After buying a couple of bottles of water we were told it doesn't get going till well after midnight, hours later! Fortunately, we were allowed to leave and return with a wristband. Even more fortunately we managed to hide our 10+ euro bottles of water behind a seat in the premier etage before leaving and returned to find them still there, untouched, hours later. The fact we didn't waste all that money on water practically made the night!

last night:

paradise - packed as a circoloco session in august
hyte - terrace busy, main room almost empty

What time do you recommend people to get to Paradise for?

Really hope the loo queue isn't as bad as at the Circo Loco opening!

While I know they are in-house productions, will be interesting if a full season two room Paradise will take some numbers off Circo Loco. Back to your theory Stivi.... Those on the Island for just a week... Do you they really want to go to say DC10 more than once in 3 days?
