Pacha vs Ushuaia - Clubbing options for couple in late 30s

solveig will be less busy than guetta.

if you don't mind spending the money, a night at lío might be something for you. have dinner there (very expensive, be warned, but at least it's also good), watch the show and then have a dance afterwards. alternatively only get there for about 1am and then only go for a bit of party. you'll have to pay to get in though if you only come for the party and this is one of the places where you definitely have to dress up a bit - smart casual.

Checked Lio on Youtube and yes Lio is our scene, aired, good looking people, sophisticated...thats one of the type of clubs im looking for...would enjoy the cabaret show but probably way over my budget...whats the fee only for dancing do you know? What is the best day to go?

I would avoid David Guetta's night due to the fact that it is ludicrously busy - there is no room to dance whatsoever and it is full of people who would rather just stand and film the event on their phones rather than dance and enjoy themselves.

With regard to people falling over you and spilling drinks etc. - Ibiza is generally not like that so you should be fine.

Must dos -IMO- would be Bora Bora, sunset at Cala Conte (much better than the sunset strip), Pacha on any night apart from Guetta's night on Thursday or Defected at Amnesia.

You will have a great time wherever you go.

Bora bora was on my list but since it is free (right???) wasnt worried about it since i dont have to buy tickets in advance....as for Pacha have you been there with Martin Solveig late July?

Just thought I'd add my comments to that of above.....

I'm of the 'older generation' and would absolutely recommend you steer clear of Guetta at Pacha, went there last year and it was by far the worst night - the place is jam packed, to the point where it feels unsafe / uncomfortable! I would however recommend pacha on Friday night, much nicer crowd/atmosphere - and depending on how late in July (if it's last week) then you'll catch Pete Tong.

We saw guetta at the radio 1 party (free Last year) and I'd recommend that, you would be to see a variety of acts/DJs that you hear on the radio/clubs...plus although it's rammed, that tends to be mainly at the front, so go near the back of Ushuaia and here's plenty of room to enjoy! Plus there's something just magical about being out in the sun, planes coming in to land and decent music on the go...IMO.

As for Martin solveig, if you're a fan of his an alternative option is to head to cafe mambo for the pre-party....and catch the infamous sunset:)

Saw radio party 1 with David Guetta on Youtube didn know it was for free...hell for free i ll go anywhere .if i dont like i ll just come back out...but on ushuaia site only saw David Guetta nights at a cost of 55euros/pax

the martin solveig night at pacha is a new one - last year he still played at pure pacha on saturday nights. this night's only just started now, if you ask again in a few weeks I'll be able to tell you how busy it is, but I can guarantee it'll be definitely less busy than guetta at pacha.

guetta's night at ushuaïa is indeed 50%55€ (depending on season). the radio 1 party at ushuaïa is a one-off event which hasn't been announced for this year yet and there's absolutely no guarantee guetta will play it.

no idea about 2015 so far ... but last year i liked BE CRAZY (every thursday) and VINTAGE (every friday) ... but actually every night can be a good night (like in borabora)

Starting to think i'm going to have to use my pension fund to have fun in Ibiza. Lol...just to get an idea can anyone tell me the price of a beer or gin tonic at pacha??

Spent last night looking at youtube videos for most of the clubs suggested (still not finished):

- DC 10 nicely spaced and aired but no really my scene, saw a party during the day…

Supermartxe at Privilege, nice big aired club but too much show, just want clubbing (not that I don’t like the shows but do not need it in the package)

- Solomun at Pacha: liked the crowd, music ok (don’t know if the wife likes style of music too much), had space to dance, but do not know if it is worth the 50 €/pax...also do not know what month i was looking at...it seemed pretty spacy for Pacha...probably in October (closing party or something)

- Glitterbox at Space, liked the music but didn’t really find any good video

- Destino Solomun, nice aired out place, to be considered!

- I will be in Ibiza during radio 1 but only if free

- Lio, my favorite so far, aired and sophisticated, good looking crowd. Is there anything like it but cheaper?

- For the “must in Ibiza” maybe Pacha with Martin Solveig is the best option so far (Guetta is already out of the picture)

Thanks all for your suggestions. They have been very useful. I will probably only buy tickets for Pacha, as for the rest I’ll play it by ear. Is this possible in Ibiza? Or do you have to book for all clubs in advance? Because this I cannot do…I will be on holidays and want some flexibility so I’ll buy one night for Pacha and the rest will be decided on the spot! For example, can’t I just show up at the door at Lio’s and ask to get in without a reservation?

Space is Glitterbox's new home this year, and is yet to open so you won't find any videos of footage of an actual event, just promo vids.

Search for Glitterbox at Booom! for last year's party - but bare in mind a few key things:

1) it's a now in a completely different venue, 2) Booom! is no longer in business, was a bit of a disaster from start to finish and had few fans (on these forums, at least), 3) Space is one of the best clubs in the world.

By the sounds of it Ibiza might not be the place you want.........
I think you are looking for Miami or Dubai or something like that......

Everything is expensive, tickets, drinks etc - €50 entrance for a good night out sounds ok to me. Sure people paid €180 a ticket to see Tina Turner a few years ago in Ireland and people were disappointed with the sound quality

Anywhere can be crowded at any time so you wont really be able to avoid crowds (If you can, then give the promotors a shout so they can close the club for that night, save them a few quid)

If you only want to be around Good looking, Mature people....... try another island. Lots of ugly crazy clubbers on the island who shout and drink and jump around to music, I think they call it dancing (Crazy huh...)

Hi,

would like to avoid the overly rowdy and overly drunk teens (+ harrassment of the wife)

Thanks!!

All my years going to Ibiza and I have never seen people harassing other peoples wives
What makes you think that will happen?

Ibiza is the one place where I have never seen that actually happen (Well thats a lie never saw it in Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain.... list goes on)

i am actually looking for 2 things "Bungle": the sophisticated older age club and the "can't miss when in Ibiza club". For the "must" i figure i will have to include a mainstream DJ...maybe i'll risk the Pacha Martin Solveig and for the other nights i will check all the opinions given on this forum...and i have quite a list to check :) !!!

Glitterbox at Space is a good suggestion that I see others have put forward, I've never been myself but always fancied it, and it's at Space this year which of course would be a great club for you to visit. I hope you have a lovely time whatever you choose to do :)

Solomun at Pacha can change direction musically through the night, more like a proper journey. Thats just what he (and plus 1) does, thats why it is so good. Why not combine it with a meal in the Pacha restaurant, then you get free entry to the club. Its a nice pleasant experience with the missus
