Out Of Curiosity-

easy to see then, that if agreeing/disagreeing on the finer points of a small umbrella catyegory of the greater all encompassing marquee that is dance music, can quickly escalate into playgroundesque cyberspace name calling, how same disagreement over some 2000 year old middle eastern fairytale can escalate into centuries of conflict!!

you're not very funny, you know

But tragically you fail to understand that.

There's people like Ancient People with something interesting to say on this discussion and then there's pointless fat kunts like you.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: obviously hit a nerve eh! ;) mwah! x

 I wish I had a picture of someone stroking their chin ;)

Nothing funnier than the crazy conversations people get themselves drawn into to define a music style:lol:

well in a way chewie is right - but I find this forum addictive for some completely unfathomable reason. I did ask the moderators to ban me a few weeks back (for my own sanity as much as anyone else's) but the request fell on deaf ears.

God I'm glad I don't get on here much, look at the time people waste!

In fact, where does one find the time??

This Olly chap seems like a rum one I must say

P.S. Hi Chews, Pups and JJ. How YOU doin' ;)

hello Mr Drew! long time no see! must run, traffic to beat!

The nonsense replies aside I actually like this thread

musical antagonists, different points of vieuw, its all harmless banter

Lighten up folks:)

no, not really

All I'm saying is that whilst I accept there have always been blurred boundaries on certain tracks - eg energy flash, nude photo back in the day right up to what say henrik schwarz, sacha funke and carl craig are doing today, there remain obvious demarcations between soulful house and soulful techno. A techno track would sound absurdly out of place at a soulogic night for instance, equally a gospel number in a mayday set. It's in the middleground that the boundaries blur. New sounds and new technology have broken down a lot of the old sonic divides. However at specialist nights I've been to like lost and spacebase, there is a distinct techno identity about the music which stands them out from deep house nights. I don't profess to be an expert on techno by any stretch and am not a producer - I just take issue with people claiming the term who don't really understand it or the roots, the influence of disco, the whole chicago/detroit evolution etc. That's all.

Your missing my point entirely.

Say it again..

where's your party at NA?
who plays @ em? maybe i know some of your crew?
melburn is a very small town afterall ;)

Its Techno Town. For the gig coming up we have Ranjit Nijjer, A-Tek, Rachel Orchard, Photon, Ajay.Y, Myself and Robert Anthony. (He would of been round your days I think)

Olly - You know what your problem is, you can't accept that anything other than what YOU personally know might be of value. .. You probably wouldn't know of any decent Techno that Nukleuz brought out because you probably ignorantly viewed them as strictly a Hard House/ Hard Dance label, and hey, maybe they'd even classify the titles I talk of as Hard House, but when I hear them, theres not enough bounce or cheesy synths for that, how ever, it does still retain that trade mark digital crunch sound that Nukleuz has.

In my eyes, it only enriches the experience to have more options open to you.

Disco: I think you might be able to appreciate what Techno Town is. I know you might think its repetative, but, I'm very, unbelievably strict on what Djs I put on for that exact reason. They all submit demos, if their demos are boring, they don't even get close to the gig, if their demo is better than mine, they get a gig. (And believe it or not, despite what the Melbourne internet massive says, the Melbourne public on the dance floor say something else, if only they knew who the **** I was.)

Basically, if any one Dj thats booked plays boringly, they don't return. I might be running a ... I take proffessionalism very seriously and I know that its not gimmics like, a name or anything that gets people back.. Its GOOD music. .. And my nights been growing steadily and now for this one people are like "Woh, we gotta get to this".

And ****en, its free champagne for the first hour so get your ass down. You can see me for the dickhead I really am and come back and report here and embarass the **** out of me on the internet :D

I'd hardly call it a row mate.

I love how on any forum any action is good action. People are so afraid of healthy debate. STILL!!! I'm home sick today, and I have pasta in a cup so once thats done im off to do a mix cd. Whats that got to do with this thread? Absolutely nothing. But I'll say it's a techno mix cd so that hardcore people dont get their nipples in a twist about keeping on topic :D
