After Hours
The Town Hall of San Jose approved new legislation last week they hope will see the end to "after hours" establishments which proved so controversial this summer. As from next year discothèques will not be allowed to open before 12p.m. midday. They will also have to close at 6a.m. This means they must remain shut for a minimum of six hours. Similarly bars with a music license will be allowed to open from 12p.m. - 4a.m. Bars and cafeterias with no such license will be able to open from 8a.m. - 3a.m. The councillor responsible, Paquita Ribas, said efforts had to be made to ensure a better co-existence between the day and night time tourists. She claimed she thought it unreasonable people were able to party 24 hours a day and said some control was needed. Fines for those who infringe the new rules will reach a maximum of €3,000, although there would be the option of closing down persistent offenders.

appeared on today's newspapers:

 ibiza town plans to ban the after hours
"a measure applied since last summer in san antonio, and recently created in san josé, that would stop people into after hours looking for an alternative to those two municipalities in ibiza town"

 the control in the opening hours will stop the drug traffic (j.m.bar)
"theres no doubt in the relation between the supply/demand of drugs and a certain kind of tourism that comes to the pitiüsas with the only intention to stay various days partying non stop, to which is complicated to coexist with other kinds like the family tourism which is one of the main bets of the islands"

 a period of 8 hours without after hours would mean the end of an empire (the director of urgencies of can misses)
"making them close 6 hours per day is positive but i think is not enough, it should be 8 hours at least". he also congratulated the administration for closing 3 clubs at the beginning of the summer for tolerating the consume: "we noticed it in the number of people hospitalized for drugs"

as you might remember, j.m. bar also said clubs should be closed more hours:

· on today's diario de ibiza (complete interview):
"spacing the times will give people a break to go to rest. i dont think it should be less than 6 or 8 hours. i think 12 hours would be ideal: from 6am to 6pm"

he also talks about the new policía autonómica in the balearics, about the guardia civil and policía nacional joining forces and becoming one, etc.....

oh dear - don't read this thread if you've just booked for 2008 :spank:

Last we got in at 6am anyway and still ahd the best time ever, next year won't be any different!

The only one that bothers me is Matinee.. I LOVE the atmosphere at Matinee first thing in the morning as everyone's piling in. Way better than We love IMO

Nobody gets to we love or Dc10 before noon anyway, and I don't really go to any of the other daytime parties so that doesn't matter.

I think Matinee will be affected the most!

Matinee is the only one I'm bothered about but tbh we only generally get there about 9.45am (to take advantage of cheap entry ) and they never really open the terrace properly til 11am so the first hour is always just spent sat around drinking on the old terrace so I guess all that it means will mean more pre-drinking/antics outside Space and then in at midday on the dot so we'll only have really missed out on an hour of dancing time.......

yeah I suppose... it kind of takes away from the atmosphere though..

I liked the fact I could leave Matinee in the afternoon and still have the evening/ night to recover for Sunday!

8)8)If it reduces ppl getting hospitized maybe its a good thing; all it takes is 1 major indident and it gives the powers to be further reasons to shut clubs etc...at least this keeps them happy for now although it I doubt it will put ppl off! Roll on next Sept and every year after that 8)8)8)

absolutely nothing compared with their new publicity rule.....

 breaking the publicity rule will mean up to 30.050€ fines
it includes concepts like publicity in the cars, walls, billboards, oral publicity, the zones where it can be done and it bans putting posters in non authorized places (facades, traffic lights, lampposts, etc). the companies will have to pay 1.000€ for each person while before they were paying 360€. minor offences will be fined with up to 601€, seriuos offences with up to 6.010€, and very serious offences with up to 30.050€. "we will try to have less PRs, but of better quality" said a councilman who explained that, for example, to be giving away bracelets an authorization will be needed so there will be more control.

 the fines for publicity in san josé will be up to 10 times more than for the closing times
minor offences:
- putting it in the cars
- shouting to promote something
- leaving it in mailboxes/etc where it says that publicity is not allowed
- approaching car drivers

serious offences:
- giving away flyers in the beaches and in the airport
- using animals
- putting it somewhere that disturbs
- approaching people and provoking agglomerations
- selling tickets or similar
- throwing publicity to the floor
- putting it on lampposts or trees

very serious offences:
- messages against the dignity of people, specially regarding childhood, youth and women

bars and clubs wont have it so easy from now on to promote their events in the san josé area.....

the policing of it will be of most interest i reckon.

the whole of the strip in playa d'en bossa complying with this would need a fairly constant police presence.

maybe the clubs should show willing to close for 6 hours and promote it - if they fight it I can see it getting worse :(

from the ibiza sun:

Flyer Clampdown
The Town Hall of San Jose is to introduce tough new laws to combat the growing problem caused by the distribution of flyers and other publicity material. "PR´s" are common both in the bay of San Antonio and Playa den Bossa, and have led to complaints from neighbours and local businesses who see the distribution of flyers, posters etc. as a nuisance.
The new administration has decided to review the previous legislation drawn up in 2000. The new law will prohibit the placement of propaganda in car windows, on traffic lights and trees, as well as on beaches, town centres, the airport, the port and in ses Salinas natural park.
Some of the previous laws will be tightened, with PR´s unable to leave the premises where they are working.
Fines have been raised and will fluctuate between €600 - €30,000 depending on the seriousness of the crime. However the Town Hall wanted to make it clear they would clamp down on those not adhering to the new legislation, who would be punished.

from today's DDI:

 ibiza town will force pubs to open late afternoon to avoid after hours
"as this is a city we are working on a norm different to the one created in san josé, which bans the opening till noon. ours will be more restrictive because an after hours in the city could create serious problems to the neighbors"

as you might know already, this winter 3 venues in ibiza town open as after hours.....
