just head north and drive and try and find you own special places. Good advice Dash - get out of the car and go for a walk.

I stayed outside San Joan a coupla years back and found some beautiful quiet country lanes. Mrs Rusytwoo and I walked for hours.

The drive from San Rafael to Puerto de San Miguel is a lovely windy road through the red earthed farms. Nice.
 
stephen, the book I have is about great Ibizan houses, I cant remember the title as It´s stashed somewhere in my boxes as we are about to move this upcoming week!

It shows different beautiful houses, amongst them my favourite of the entire island (compared to what ive seen and read about so far!) - fata morgana!
 
One tip, if you're driving from San An to San Miguel, watch the road with the pot holes in it... I managed to blow two tyres and ruin the front wheel on the rather nice mercedes A class I had hired out. Thank the good lord for insurance!

Its not my fault, this hole was like the grand canyon!!!

going off the subject for a sec.. which company did you hire your Mercedes A-Class from Andi? Lookin to get a car for our whole stay at the moment. Does the company have a website that you know of? Any info appreciated.

On Benirras. Would that be the beach can see sunset from and the hippies go there?? Prity sure its the place we drove to one year and missed the sunset as we set off to late (even though I drove like schumacher over some prity dodgy ground). The second time we tried we got halfway there and the thunder and lightning kicked off and we had to go back as we had a jeep with no roof! Shall be trying again this year. Third time lucky etc!!

I hired it from www.betacar.biz but went into the office on the island to arrange it as opposed to online. Was only after a renault megane, but they had none and so offered to upgrade me to the A class for the same price.

Ironically I was on the way to Benirras myself, (just driving in the direction of San Miguel) we also never made it! :roll:

So its not just us that have missed it then! Think it takes longer to get to than you think. First time we went I dont know how we got there and back alive. Was gettin some strange looks off the locals on the way!! Not that there are many about!

Anyone know what time you need to be there to catch it at the start of Sept at all?

Cheers for the info by the way. Will have to get on top of booking a car in the next week. Only know we're goin on 1st Sept since Jan!
 
lol, i loved exploring the island. its essential. I plan on doin it more this summer. I reckon instead of going out and getting pissed in the west end on the nights im not clubbing, i might stay off the booze, have an earlyish night and make sure im up nice and bright to go exploring in the morning. some of the beaches are just breathtaking, as well as the driving! We were mainly over the north east coast, but im really poor with names so I don't know the names of any beaches.

So you reckon the north west is the best bet McRackin? I'd love to see some pictures of the beaches up there! Any good websites? Im bored at work today and I wanna get away from it all from my desk. 4 and a half months and counting :roll:

Number 2. - I have asked a friend who is Ibicenco and lives on the island who said she had never heard of "bitter waters" so I give up :cry:
 
go up to benirras for amazing sunset and drummers on the beach. the rest. up there is pretty good too.....portinax was ok also, but a bit touristy (sure mcphoto bite my head off lol*) - for good beaches also, go south or try cala salada and the beaches north of san antonio. they are amazing. and cala d´hort with stunning views of Es Vedra is a must do too!!

Hiring a car

I am staying in San Antonio 14-21st Oct, wondering if anyone could point me into the direction of a reasonable car hire firm or the best way to hire a car please.

I've hired cars off here last two times I've been on holiday (Lanzarote in March, Ibiza in August :lol: ) Works out quite cheap.

hehe, I did the same. I lived in Ibiza for a year and went to Benirras once. Me and a friend got there after the sun had set because we had been arguing. :x I have just been on holiday in Portinatx (which is beautiful by the way) We kept planning on going to Benirras but never made it, this time it was down to pure laziness and staying in Portinatx too much.
