News of The World

Ofcourse other newspapers are going to be on a witch hunt now, using social media to get companies to boycott the rag, along with readers, being one such ploy. And I believe if proven correct (and it has yet to be) yes people and advertisers should do so, its absolutley vile if it is true. I think cameron will act swiftly once proven, not just against the company but also the police force.

Apart from the insensitive side of it, I wander how much it may have hampered the initial investigation, and if the lawyers of the twunt that did it will now appeal, thus dragging that poor family through it all again  ??

This made me chuckle :-

"...One journalist said he had been told by a News of the World employee that a succession of people were ringing the newsdesk, "shouting the c-word down the phone, and hanging up".

Immature but amusing all the same.

I'm sincerely outraged and have been from the out, never mind being manipulated by the enemies of the notw *he hopes*

seeing mp's to scared to ask the questions at select committee due to their fear of the fookers really got me.

and the bottle of red as i'm off work.

think news int have all but admitted it and said worse to come. 7/11 bombing victims is being suggested.

that said, there is a reason why the mail, the mirror and the star did not lead with it, prob as bang to rights as the notw.

.

If they have tapped more dead peoples phones, like the 7/7 victims, then what is the worst that can happen ?? People will get sacked, hopefuly some sent to jail, but the rags will keep going !!

I read the story and it is another case of Murdoch and news corp run amok. I hope they kill the purchase of Sky for Murdoch. He has turned Fox in the USA into fake news. The PI has been sent to jail for hacking a phone before and the paper are paying people off that they hacked. The CEO says I didn't know any of this was going on bullsh1t I say

Andy Coulson is going to jail.
This one happened under Rebekah Brooks (nee Wade), now head of News International! (company that manages all News Corp's UK print publications). Her head has got to be on a platter soon or Murdoch's lost the plot. A friend of mine is head of PR for News Int'l. Don't envy him now!

I think it's just indicative of the lack of restraint in the UK press. The will go to any lengths (of course, some more than others!) to get "the story". Hyper-competitive market and entirely-immoral journalists. Titillate at any cost to sell papers.

The timing of this revelation is great. I really do hope it scuttles News' BSKYB deal.

Its all pretty rancid behaviour. I mean, I knew they stooped pretty low to get stories, but.... I was shocked when I heard it break on Sunday night. Looks like its the tip of the iceberg too.
I'd like to see a public enquiry into the whole sorry mess.

I hate the hold these institutions have on the majority in this country. Agree with Morbs, hopefully this will go some way to scuppering the BSkyB deal, although I wouldn't hold my breath.

This^

Mind you, it's partly the British public's fault for buying such scummy rags - I'd hesitate to call them newspapers.

I am unable to answer my mobile phone at the moment but if you leave me a message, The News of the World will email it to me later.

and suddenly after noticing a gap in the market we'll have the sunday sun!

"hello sainsburys..............whats that a new paper? specializes in filth, trash, tattle and half truths??...hmmm not news of the world then?......no.....ok yes well have the first right hand full page for the next 10 years...bye"

are people that stupid??

it's reassuring - i've heard that same statement from five people independently already.

so clearly not! 8)
