Musical instruments?

Really wish I'd kept at piano now, it was horrible at the time though, I totally hated it. Maybe learned for 3 or 4 years before doing the freak at an exam and my Mum said I could stop going to lessons.

Taught myself very basic guitar, and can hold a tune when I sing as well (mostly) and I like to have a strum when nobody is listening.

I'd really love a Hang Drum, a mad steel drum thing from Switzerland, but the cost and process of obtaining one puts me off. They cost a couple of grand and you need to put your name down on a list for an appointment to get your drum then wait for an invite to Switzerland to go get yours.

Well I felt physically sick every time I heard someone play thinking, "grrr this could be me"...and never bothered to touch a piano because I kept telling myself it was too late and should've kept it up when I was younger.

You'll probably surprise yourself if you have a go.

I'm almost back up to speed now, but the only thing I struggle with is the key signatures for the minor stuff. :?

I too wish I'd kept up with piano. :(

Even more so, I wish I had the time and motivation to practice enough to be good with at least one of the instruments I dabble on. :?

I wish. Still on my list of things to do in life is to be able to play an instrument.

Would like my kids to do something like that or have an interest but their life not mine.

Very interesting thread Robder, revealing talents otherwise not known. :D

Play Tenor, Alto & Soprano sax, played the Tenor in a band for a year and did some solo stuff with pre-recorded backings for charity. Did take sax lessons for a while. Still have them all and drag them out for a blast every few weeks, should play daily tho. My favourite is my Tenor which gets played the most. :D

Got Roland & Yamaha keyboard synths and a Kawai rackmount synth with a Quadraverb rackmount effects module all connected by MIDI to a computer Sequencer. Had them since 1990 and put together an instrumental New Age album called Natural Images (90-94) for The Venture Label a subsidary of Virgin Records. They followed my progress for 4 years but I ditched them when I got dissolutioned. I swear one of my riffs was stolen and was a big hit for a current well known artist, just can't prove it. :( Still haven't got back to writing but thinking about getting started again.

Four of the tunes are here;

My Tenor sax is a vintage 1962 Selmer MkIV worth a lot of money, still got a shock when I saw a virtually identical one on ebay 2 weeks ago for £5,500!!! 8O Won't part with mine tho.

oooh very impressive!

no, definitely don't part with the sax.

I want my piano back! It's currently at my mum & dads but obviously I live in an ex local authority 12th floor block so it ain't practical. ;)

Funny thing is because it's so old it looks like s**t, but, sounds fantastic. :D

LoL - the thoughts of you and your mates getting an upright piano up the stairs to the 12th floor - in my head is hysterical -:lol::lol::lol:

Played the keyboard / Piano when i was about 14. Played guitar and Bass since I was 16 as Electric Guitar was a lot cooler than the Keyboard! Pretty good at rhythm stuff not much good with the solos.

I still have 3 Guitars at home dont play them often enough but every now and then ill get them out to practice the skills.

Oooh lets form a band IMMEDIATELY!

I can play a few love songs - we'll be like Westlife!

I don't think Guitar hero counts mate. Still as long as you're nowhere near the drums ;)

Anyway, I heard you used to play a mean skin-flute?
