Missing Madeline

I agree:cry: :cry: . I think 2 much press can be a bad thing. They will throw the book at whoever did this, so they will hide all evidence to avoid jail. such a sad situation.:cry: :cry:
 
seriously though, many of the looky looky's are parents who have left their kids back home (in places like senegal) to work in ibiza and the canaries so that they can send money back home for their kids to get an educate.

as mark says, i'm sure they can appreciate more than most of us what maddy's parents might be going through, if only slightly.
 
I just think the search is now getting so desperate and that there is so little hope left that the thought of these guys in Ibiza with their Madeline T Shirts trying to get the message across - despite it being all but a pointless gesture- seems tragically sad to me.

I just think there might be a certain level of cynicism involved
(I think the same of News of the World's campaign, to be honest)

They may be using them in a cynical ploy to attract customers, they may not, either way it's a sad state of affairs. The lookie lookie men wearing theseTshirts to signifies to me the futility of the search. That's what i find so sad.

Taking away all the overpublicity and front line news, there's still a little girl who is most certainly dead. And there's nothing humourous in that whatsoever.

I think Morbyd is just highlighting the fact that although it is a tragic event, there are people out there who will capitalise on it. For example, there are numerous reports of people who pretend to be collecting for maddy but are lining their pockets. Although this is vastly different to what the news of the world are doing it could be argued that they are boosting their publicity by being involved in this campaign. Every reward poster and inflatable sign has a giant NOTW logo on it. As for 'lookie lookie' men, there is a history of using dubious tactics to make a sale. I realise it's wrong to tarnish every one with the same brush but I can see why people are cynical about the motives of the t-shirt wearers.

i just don't see the difference in the integrity of shopkeeper who has a poster in the window or anyone who is a myspace friend or anyone on here who pledges/donates to the cause...............and a lookie lookie man.

sadly, i think as many people sign up/show support for these type of causes out of self-interest as do for good intentions. or at least, they do it with good intentions but are aware of the self interested benefits too.


anyway, as bad as the last few weeks have been, the worst is yet to come i think. either a body is found or the parents have to take the decision and realise that what they are doing is achieving nothing.:cry: :cry: :cry:

But the media reaction is. It's like an episode of Brass Eye.

Nobody's saying her (inevitable) plight isn't tragic.
 
Tabloids suck. They are making capital out of collective grief. Collective grief sucks - it's do with belonging, with emotional buy-in into a tribe. I don't know Madeline like a didn't know Diana. I wished neither of them harm and if I could help I would. I'd pray for Madeline if I wasn't sure it was pointless.

Kids die, some white pretty daughters of doctors, some hungry orphans in Africa, some of diseases they'd never contract if huge companies didn't push formula milk on them, when they know breast milk is safer where water is foul. It's all tragic, but apply logic and focus effort on the greatest return.
