sorry dude,

its the vocals of over you (defected) with a DJ Nekbath tune. quite cool coz the vocals are quite well known but not been overdone, and the nekbath tune hardly anyone has heard of! i got the nekbath album for free ive never even heard of him!

I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO PRESS THIS ONTO VINYL OR ATTEMPT TO SELL THIS IN ANYWAY...

CD's for you and a few mates are fine!

Haha yeah, like no-one at Defected PLC has ever used or released bootlegs.

I find your attitude stinks somewhat Mr Daniel. I dare say this guy will not hit your balance sheet too much in 2005.

Nice to see you keeping the vibe alive!

I'm not gonna grass anyone up mate, but if someone like Simon Dunmore walks into a shop and see's one of his records bootleged he gets f***ing pissed off, and he will chase it right to the source and take them too court. It was a bit of friendly advice! Any label will look after its interests and take action agains bootlegers, its part of the game!

I think a lot of the reason people bootleg is cause its a way of getting hold of material to use. Not every bedroom Dj/Producer has facilities to record stuff. If you can use samples from other tracks and you end up making a decent sounding bootleg, then whats wrong with wanting people to listen to it? I agree with whats being said about bootlegs though, there are millions of shoddy ones out there. But theres been some pretty famous ones, including (gah) Toca's Miracle, Sun Is Shining etc. Andy, what is it you do at Defected? I really want a Defected top, but the only one I can find is that crap olive green womens thing on the site! Any others kicking about, or know where i can get hold of one? Your assistance would be appreciated!

Defected stinks now... it's all about the £££££££££££££££££££

It always makes me laugh how much of a double standard there is with bootlegs. I'm not particularly fond of them either but I also dislike shitty sampled stuff like Lola's theme and stupid disco. To me, they too are just a beefed up bootleg.

The making of Lolas theme

Listen to classic disco tracks
Load up pathetic sequencer
record loop of disco track
loop it for 5 mins and apply filtering for a breakdown
add drumloop
add acapella (this was also sampled on the original release)
add a basic bassline that consists of 6 notes in total.
add whooshies and crashies

job done............

The making of back to basics

Repeat tried and tested method!!
watch money roll in

You cant say that lolas theme is ok because it paid royalties to original artists etc. Do u think they did that with the original white label?? F&&K no! Its the same with bootlegs, royalties dont come into it unless it gets a full commercial release.

No it isn't, in fact it's directly against the game.

Do you know how much Stevie Wonder was given when All I do was made?

Stupidisco was made about 6months before dave armstrongs version came out, Vito & Dave have aggreed on this, Also we paid the Pointer Sisters their dues, i'm doubtful if Dave did.

Yeah, and I suppose Thrill me was made 6 months before Burnin aswell!!!

Jesus!!!

I wasn't trying to get into any kind of a debate here, all i was offering is some friendly advice to try and keep this guy out of any legal trouble. Bootlege's are illegal we accept they happen but we will put a cease and decist order on anyone we find putting them out. It's the artist who loses out a hell of a lot more than us, its them who's losing their royalties.

damo mate, if i was half as good as you at producing i wouldnt be making bootlegs, i'd be doin my own stuff, end of!

from what ive heard of u- especially the last one u've uploaded - u sound like a good up'n'coming producer,

but at the end of the day im just startin and probably every dj finds a good 'bootleg' hence the reason why defected release most of their accapellas, because they want dj's to create different sounds.

tell me any difference from me mixing the bootleg ive created live in a bar from creating it and putting it onto CD for everyone to hear.

im not sayin that that gives everyone the right to rip off defected tunes but ppl at defected must be god damn náive if they dont expect it to happen. its part of the house music culture, its part of creativity, its part of sharing what we all love and appreciate. 'white labels' are part of what makes house music so special and long may it continue.

sorry mate i didnt mean to sound like that post was aimed at you, i didnt intend it to be. I started out doing bootlegs too, we all gotta start somewhere :D It just annoys me that a lot of people diss bootlegs yet love stuff like lolas theme and stupidisco. Thats what i meant by a double standard.

cheers for the kind words though :)

no mate, it wasnt directed at you, or andy daniell, its just a general point that anyone who loves house music should appreciate the creativity that our house culture thrives on. if the bootgleg is shit then no one will buy it.

however if it is a good tune which adds something to the original then everyone will appreciate it and it will add to the recognition of the original tune.

isn't this all part and parcel of what we hav all come to love or am i just going off on one here!?

I think you're spot on.

Also I think you have a great attitude - being British and all. ;)

goddamit - everythings nicer when we are all friends. im starting to feel the love on this thread now :D

if i hear a tune like stupidisco, and it makes me wanna dance, then im gonna dance, im not gonna get hung up on who originally made the track, or who sampled it or anything. if it sounds good then im dancin. some of the tunes i hear mentioned on forums, a lot of the dub and tribal stuff, is simply too complex for me to really get into. ive got numerous deep house sets that bore me to tears, i love big tunes. not the sort of frequency that dangerous dave pearce would play em! but you get my drift! ive forgotten what point i was tryin to make now.... hangover is awful
