Is this the end for day parties in Ibiza?

Ibiza Voice: What have you heard about the situation with regards to the opening hours of clubs this year?

Ryan O'Gorman (Electricsex): "As far as I am aware it's the same as last year, technically all the clubs in San Antonio (that includes Amnesia and Privilege) are required to shut at 6am but the clubs with the bigger turn over will no doubt carry on and pay the fines.
However next year all midweek daytime parties will be gone everywhere in Spain. It's probably the worst thing to happen to European club laws since Franco."

Ibiza Voice: Was there any moment with the authorities last year that you thought 'Oh ****, I'm really in trouble now'?

Ryan O'Gorman (Electricsex): "Yeah once or twice but it's all part of the game, you just have to be respectful. That or blame it on someone else. We nearly got Pepe from Coastline arrested last year because of the after-party we did at Kanya. They fined him three times, the fourth time they were getting the handcuffs out."

I cant read spanish, so I havent got the full details of those articles, but I wonder whether this means clubs will be allowed to open for part of the daytime hours, say 12noon onwards will be ok? Or will it be a more restricted ruling with tighter still opening hours?

Id hate to think there would be no space terrace and DC-10 afternoon sessions, or Bora Bora for that matter. Obviously , I can see the point of ibizas residents who may have there normal lives disturbed, lets hope a happy medium can be reached.

According to the newspaper article quoted by McRackin the authorities haven't decided on the hours when clubs will have to remain closed. The owners and promoters I've spoken to think it'll be noon, but it's really anybody's guess.

the interesting thing would be to get the reaction of people who live here not the "turn up for a week" brigade - with all due respect....

i suspect that a vast majority, whilst recognising the possible danger in turning away clubbers, won't really care

how much of a clubbers cash sees the light of day outside a club ?

food for thought

xico tarres (president of the consell insular): what we have to know is what kind of tourism we want. having clubs and music is fine, but how many people come to the island for two days in which they dont even stay in a hotel because with the pills they take can stay all night partying?

no - this time the consenus is that its going to happen

the "island" consell said that the "island" is not going to have after hours parties but san jose is the only borough that currently allows after hours anyway - which is basically dc10 and space.

this weekend san jose council said that regardless of what the island consell does/says they will clamp down on after hours parties anyway
