INSANE @ Pacha 2015

Stay until 7AM? How were the main sets?
Left at 6 due to getting there early and sore legs from the girls. I was a bit worse for wear and can't remember that much. Music was good, Digweed surprised me and played a good set.

was there 2 fridays ago for MK and the Disciples... top tunes! Disappointed MK only played 90 minutes. Really had fun :)

edit - forgot Andhim was on next. thought they were good as well.... didn't stay to the end but it had been a long night and the girls were done.

Went to insane last night and thought it was god awfull!

The crowd were grim. Felt like 80% sausage fest. Groups of chaps mauradering about on the pull. I'll never go again to that night.

I'm told digweed banged it out, I'd left by but the music to that point was pants soulless house.

Special nod to the bells angels!

We went and stayed until the end ... Not sure I agree regarding the sausage fest bit as lots of hen parties and certainly much more balanced mix versus Cox at Space last year ... Was very housey until Digweed (which was banging) but thought the House stuff was right for the crowd... Me and the wife very much enjoyed the Pacha set up and the night all round ...

my view of insane is that it can be really great in both terms of music and crowd, but I also have been a few times this summer where I thought neither the music nor the crowd were great...in these cases I often only stayed for an hour. I wasn't there yesterday, but the week before was a very very good one.

my main issue with insane is that it's still not got its own proper identity and is not consistent in terms of music and crowd. it honestly depends a lot on who plays. that's one of the big differences to almost all the other nights on the island - they normally all have their crowd because the artists are mostly the same or very similar.

I far preferred the enter, top knotted, tattooed Italianish crowd. Loads of people from rome there (well 1/3 of the ten people I spoke to).

Was out of insane in two hours.

I think even Insane's biggest fans on these forums would agree with that assessment.

No consistency. If Digweed is gonna be your #2 resident (assuming MK is 1st) and playing 60% of your dates you can't be putting him on at midnight - 2am slot or similar. Criminal waste. Have faith in him, and let him run with it.

Agree. As I have said time and time again. These quite different DJs can work, if they sorted the set-times out. On nights they are both there = MK 3AM-5AM and Digweed 5AM-7AM.

The more I think about it now, I think they need to take Insane back to 2013! Strip MK out of if and maybe even give him his own night (IF his album is a success this year)
Insane 2013:
Residents: Fritz Kalkbrenner & John Digweed
Regulars: Uner, Steve Lawler, Joris Voorn, Coyu, Umek, Dj Sneak, Derrick Carter and Mark Farina.

Digweed early set a couple of weeks ago was great, really enjoyed it and probably the DJ I was least expecting to enjoy.

Me too, wonder what the reasons are for the set-times being bounced around?

I had a late morning flight back a few hours after leaving Insane where Hot Since 82 played until 0500hrs, he was sat a few rows in front of me on the same flight looking tired after what can only have been 2-3 hours kip max. before heading to Maidstone to play a late afternoon set at the Social festival. I'd have thought they'd have given him the earlier slot then but maybe the unpredictable booking is meaning clubbers have to get in earlier / stay later in case they miss out.

This is not a new thing guys. We were talking about this as early as June 2014 after one-night when Digweed was on 0130-0230! I kid you NOT! If anything 2014 lineups and set times were even more screwed up!

Maybe Pacha think they are being clever as it gets people in early and they stay....

I'm being optimistic here but could there also be an artistic side to it? Diggers wanting to experiment with sets at different times at the same party, trying out something more warmy-uppy one week then peak time the next? Might it be akin to Sven alternating rooms on Mondays and playing different sets?

Or is it to deconflict with other gigs he has elsewhere - early set on Friday at Insane as has to get on a flight to Mexico or somesuch for Saturday. Diggers does globetrot with the best of them still.

This is true! He travels a hell of a lot, so in many cases this may be the reason for changes in set times....

I'm out on the Isle 25th-28th. Party of 11 stag do.

Chose Insane as it cuts a middle ground rather than Music On. Which in part outlines how it doesn't have a solid identity I agree. Hoping for some solid music and a good crowd to get involved with.

This will be my third trip to Ibiza but my first wonky one. Hoping for great things.

There you go then, that's Insane's identity, it's the party that has a little for everyone, a good compromise in groups with varying tastes!

But isn't that the niche that We Love... had carved out for years before it all went wrong?

I think this friday might be a really good one. ferrer and digweed...and in this line up, even reboot might be ok (not his biggest fan). also, music on will be so ridiculously packed, insane will be a perfectly busy alternative to it.

Stivi I thought you loved Reboot and had Caminando on endless repeat night and day! ;)
