At least the 2020 summer wasnt a total write-off...

I didnt know Ibiza had nesting sites. Here in the Caribbean it is a bit more common but you still feel blessed when you witness a laying/ hatching. Got to see one laying about 4 years ago next to my home. You can see them almost everyday here swimming in the shallows at certain beaches.

Anyway... thought we could have a positive thread about animals for a breif respite from, riots rape and pestilence currently discussed here. No pictures of Murder Hornets please!!!

Would love to know if anyone has seen a local hedgehog.

We have lots of hedgehogs at the moment around the garden.. dog goes crazy when he gets a sniff, they fckn stink.. strong little guys we often here wheelie bin moving at side of the house and it was hedgehog pushing it to get passed...

IBIZA - A 19-year-old British tourist must have had two fingers amputated during his holiday in Ibiza and was bitten by a spider. That happened when he was watching the sunset on the beach. “I woke up at 5 a.m. the next morning with a burning and swollen hand,” said the teen.

The teen went to a health center on the island that same morning, where he received an injection. When that didn't help, he was transferred to Can Misses Hospital. “I panicked when my hands turned purple and the doctors told me they had never seen anything like it,” the teen told local media.

brown violin spider

Medics put him on an IV and ran a series of tests, which revealed he had been bitten by a venomous brown fiddler spider. The teen will now have to undergo surgery to amputate two fingers and part of another finger once his hand has healed.

The venom of a fiddler spider breaks down soft tissue. It can take months for wounds caused by a bite to heal. It also often leaves deep scars. The spiders are mainly found in the United States.

Some people think its dangerous there. It happens every 10 years. Its the same as the shark storys. One accident in 20 years .
In some areas of spain there are a lot of redbacks. Nothing happens.

20 years ago, no venomous animals were found on the island.
Thanks to the import of exotic plants to decorate the villas of the VIPs.
It is like the snakes, which arrived with the centuries-old olive trees that are being uprooted from the land of Andalusia, and which today are a disaster for the lizards of Ibiza.

Some people have panic. Tourist fears. They dont know that we have poison animals in harbour areas or airports , normally in summer. Its in England the same as in Germany. The danger is if this species will stay. But not because the danger for humans ...
Remember a women in Bali who asked me : Are there sharks here ( in german ). I told her : Its the open pacific . They never saw a shark here.
Are there snakes here ? No . If you dont see one , there are no snakes ( they have a lot , some very poison ).
