Ibiza...is it so quiet this year???

i have been told that since last saturday the drink prices at amnesia are a bit cheaper (except in the vip)..... can someone confirm it :?:

It is the second most expensive spanish island isn't it?
Can't think of too many Med. islands more expensive either :?
sicily corsica and sardinia to name but 3.

if ibiza was expensive then i couldn't afford to live here - but i do very well thank you on what i earn. it's not difficult to go to all the right places here - they outnumber the wrong ones by about 100 to 1.

if you have a room at spike's,have a dinner at l'elephant and a vip accomodation at pacha, yes it is...but for me the coast of life in ibiza is the same than here in france...

I personally think that the powers that be in Ibiza have bitten the hand that feeds them for far far too long. Its got to the stage now where Ibiza is just prohibatively expensive.

Its always been alot to go over there, right back in the 90's, but nowadays, it really does take the piss. 10 Euro's for a small bottle of water really is scandalous.

In a way im glad, I think Ibiza has had its time, ive been going every year since 1998, and it peaked around 2000. Every year since then something has happened on the island to slowly make it worse. You can blame the music scene, the pound, the changing attitude's, whatever. I just know it was alot more exciting to go to Ibiza back then than it is now.

Theyve ripped us off for too long. I'll still go cos I think the place has a magic about it, but whatever anyone says, the stopping of day time clubbing, the closures of bars/clubs, the hidden agenda that appears to be there whereby the big clubs get bigger and the small new ones get closed just gets worse.

Its about time this happened, i hope this season is a record low, just to show some people out there that they cant get away with charging 10 notes for water, club or not. I dont care.

What with the recession and all that, its clear that clubbers want something new, hence the renaissance of places on the red sea coast, that offer the hedonistic lifestyle that Ibiza used to have for a fraction of the cost.

lets be honest, Ibiza was once famous for being a place you could be relatively free. Do you feel that now? I certainly dont. I dont when im taking out £1500 to go out for one week in a place that, in reality, just is not worth it anymore. Its sad but true

Toms, you make GREAT points here. I 100% agree with everything you say. It's not the end, but yes clubbers want more. Is Ibiza really worth paying these ridiculous prices for?? There are other places with the same dj's. I know, they may not be SPACE or AMNESIA, but this is what the powers that be are counting on. For YOU to still come over and "fork it over" for IBIZA, the MAGICAL island. Well, FYI it ain't so magical anymore. Thanks to said powers that be (including the economy). Yes, clubbers will go where they can get what they want, but without so many restrictions and ridiculous prices. IMO it's just not worth it anymore. I can see any of these dj's in Chicago and get a great show for MUCH cheaper. I can also go to a fabulous pool party right here in my city. I'm not giving them my money. THanks but NO THANKS:!::?;):D

yes I think many of us can see these DJs in our hometown.. I have... All of them come here at some point, but there is a difference between seeing Richie Hawtin at Cocoon or seeing him at a **** nighclub in Edmonton. There is something magical about the island.. I'm going to wait until September until I make my decision! ;)

I agree though , the drink prices and club entyr prices and no-fun rules are stupid and ridiculous!!

What are the clubs saying about the situation? if things are quiet (mixed reviews) and the atmospheres changing with new laws and closures, what is the opinion of the club owner / local businesses? I hear alot of complaints and bad news but not much in the way of promotion and re-assuring holiday makers / clubber etc that have been coming to the island for years - instead the drinks get more expensive.......make your own assumptions.

I think it would only take 2 of the big 7 to drop their drink prices a couple of Euros and the rest would follow suit.

Continually upping drink prices and the strength of the Euro is surely having an effect on the numbers. I personally can't afford to go for 2 weeks anymore for these reasons..

Yeah, I reckon so. The prices must be keeping people away definately. As much as I love Ibiza, I really hope all these closures and ridiculous prices turn round and smack them in the face to be fair.

Ibiza Is ****ing Expensive ... We Have Villla With Very
Good Spanish Cook And He Always Brings As The Receipts From The Market .. So Expensive ... Thank God I Dont Have To Pay The House (17.000 Euros /week) Nor Food Nor Nothing ...

i just happened upon a couple of receipts from my shopping trips last week.

quite a bit of dog and cat food on there, but i don't think anything else is outrageously priced, or have i been living in ibiza too long and take these ultra high prices for granted. i do admit that foreign specialities do carry a premium eg the mrs' teacakes.

29 cents for 1.5l

i tank up at the well - 1euro for 25 litres

(effective)promotion

why should they promote, with our money, the clubs which are already well known :?:

fyi, the clubs have NEVER been included in the promotion plans of left or right.....

The official promotion of the government would be more a thread for the clubs...;) Because the official/public sector has no clue of effectice promotion/advertising.
The promotion of the clubs in the past was unpayable for the whole island.
The (new) official government touristic strategy will not work. It`s obvious.

Carl Cox interview @ clubtickets.com

clubtickets: Is there a next Ibiza? Anywhere you’ve travelled to that could compete?

Carl: People have tried everywhere else. There’s only one Ibiza, and there’s something about that island that brings people back every year. Everyone moans about it every year but they still come back, everyone who goes there still has the best time of their life, so what can you do?
