Ibiza gossip 2024

This is proper gossip. Love it.
The rule of not starting the new thread until after Halloween has to go!! 😄

Mine was gossip too! Nothing confirmed! I probably should not have said "100%" :)

As ADE is one week later next year (22-26 October), I wonder if the Ibiza Closing Parties might be one week later?

Or the lads and lasses just want a rest before ADE

I bet that Seth B2B Skream closing Circo set was quite emotional given what happened over the weekend.

Did anyone off here go?
I was there, finally there was a surprise set with seth, jamie jones & martinez brothers tribute to jackmaster.
but for me it was quite disappointing, to be honest.
i didn't connect with the music at all,
but of course, i guess it's just a matter of taste.
i remember on the anniversary in july that seth troxler was playing with skream closing the terrace and it was fantastic (when knights of jaguar played i almost cried).
great party that was...

I just get the impression that despite making millions doing his thing, his pride means he would like to be taken more seriously, which is why he created this double persona. He probably looks at his old contemporaries from Paris, people like i:cube, with some envy because they are revered by the music press in a way he will never be. That a hugely successful businessman in his 50s should still feel that insecure though seems a bit weird to me though...

I think his Friday @ Hi called "Future Rave" was him getting back to doing more DJ'ing? Not sure he played the festival tunes at that night. Someone shout me down if I am talking total rubbish - but that was my perception of the night.

The point about "entertainers" is an interesting one because rationally, logically it makes no sense whatsoever. Live performance over thousands of years has involved a crowd watching someone do something on a public stage, whether that is fighting lions, throwing dwarves, singing opera or burning their guitar. But modern nightclubs successfully pack out venues to give crowds the opportunity to watch what exactly? Someone making a killing punching the air excitedly at intermittent intervals in front of a mixing console they barely touch? As a scam it is absolute genius and I can hardly blame my girlfriend's nephew for wanting to go down that route...

This is where I think we slightly disagree. "Scam" indicates that people have no idea what they are doing and are being conned. People pay money to just have a good time. They are "seeing" the person that produced the tune (hence Guetta plays mostly his tunes) - and they are happy people! It obviously does something that makes people feel amazing about seeing that person, and dancing with their friends. It will be interesting how people in 20-30 years actually look back on it.

c'mon, it is a scam if people turn up under the illusion they're experiencing something live rather than the pre-recorded sets every man and his dog knows are prevalent now...

HaHa. I suppose my point is they all know it is pre-recorded. Well I assume they all do?

There's a different reason for that and it has nothing to do with Ibiza, although Ibiza might act on it as an effect. Amsterdam celebrates their 750 year anniversary as a city that week. ADE announced a partnership with Adam750 and therefor moved it a week to be able to have one big celebration. Obviously also efficient with security, public transport, crowd control etc to have this all in one week / weekend.

thanks for explaining that, I had been wondering why they changed the date.

to clara's question: yes, it might indeed mean the season could get another week longer next year because of that. I don't have any inside info at all and I am genuinely just assuming, but the fact ADE is later next year (and I guess it will be a one-off) might indeed mean the last closings are later too. we'll see.

and yeah, clara was right too, everyone here on the island needs a break now haha!
