The busiest events I have ever been to in Ibiza were the Privilege closing on Thursday 28th September 2017, and the final Space closing party on Sunday 2 October 2016.

Both were busier than anything I have experienced since then; both rank as two of the best parties I have ever experienced in my life.

Kind of find myself agreeing with both sides of the argument. I get what @grego means about just get in the party and enjoy, and things have always been busy.

However, I wonder if people consuming a wider variety of less happy substances makes people enjoy some events less? The days of everyone floating and bumping into each other and making friends with the person next to you for life is less common than it was IMO.

Good point on the latter there seems to be less people on pills and more on more agreesive stuff (not just in Ibiza, everywhere) and that does change the vibe

People stood about filming everything is another change, if everyone is dancing the crowd is moving, but I think weve done the phones in raves debate to death

It’s the crushing, over capacity, flow and associated risk that are the fundamental issues. It is reflected in the number of sell out events. Failing to recognise that is just kicking the can down the road.

You get some sort of emergency in Hi that causes a rush to get out and you could have fatalities. It's not a new thing either, it's been happening for years but that doesn't mean it should be allowed to carry on ffs or does there need to be a tragedy before promoters and club owners are limited on how many people are allowed in.

Completely agree that there is significant potential for this at hi. It’s the most at risk club on the island imo. You are right, it’s been happening since it opened. It’s the design of the place that’s the fundamental issue. It’s probably more obvious to more people now as it is selling out more often. Great work by the programmers and promoters. But I would not be surprised to read a help disaster has happened in there due to the issues raised on this thread.

I agree and l made a similar point previously of the crowd attitude or general ethos of clubbing / xtc feeling has gone. Hence rudeness and the increase in fights in clubs which l never heard of or saw over the many years of clubbing as it had no place in peace love & Doves society.. I do get grego and where he’s coming from, get involved at the best parties, totally. Funny one to figure out. Less is more in some cases. And l guess just cause it’s got a 5000 capacity, no need to actually fill it, maybe 4500 😉 room for the toes to breathe

I suppose all we can say is that everyone has the information they need right? You know what nights are going to be rammed, you know places like Chinois and Akasha will be roomy and not will never allow too many people in. You know Hi will be busy, and what the crowd will be like. You know Pacha (few exceptions) is a better experience. Everyone has the information on here, or elsewhere to make their informed choices. Combine a packed out DC10 with Akasha that next night which is more like partying in a private club. Do a festival experience at Ushuaia and then move onto Underground with 100 people in it! Choice is everywhere...

We might all know on here, but we represent a tiny proportion of Ibizan club goers. Unless they have experienced it before, most haven’t got a clue how over crowded each club can get, and where in the clubs the major pinch points are. And no one knows until they arrive if it’s going to be one of those nights, unless it’s the openings and closings.

I still think Space closing wasn't as busy as I feared, maybe I prepared myself for the worst and then found it not that unbereable, plenty of room to dance in the Discoteca for the final hours.
I have been to worse Circoloco nights in terms of crowds.
Privilege closing in 2017 was very busy, I didn't really enjoy that.

I also can agree with parts of both sides of the argument. Been travelling to the island for nearly 20 years now and I don't think i've ever experienced being shut out of an event because it's been sold out. I know it does happen hear and there, but it's not the norm. That is fairly unusual in comparison to most of the scene globally, where you need to act fast with tickets to avoid being disappointed. Ibiza is a wild place. They let a lot of people into these venues. It's a source of pride for the hosts, djs, and attendees of the parties that they are involved in such crazy parties. Few should be surprised that certain nights will be mega rammed. And if you are surprised then you must be new here. That being said you have every right to protect yourself, and be weary for your own safety. There are a few weekly events that I probably wouldn't elect to escort a female friend to for example, for reasons as outlined in this thread. Alas, these forums are a wealth of information about what to expect on every night of the week.

Lastly... of course the clubs should be concerned about our safety. Real things can and will happen. But like I said, Ibiza is a wild place. That is partly of why we love it. If you know the island, and if you frequent these forums, you shouldn't be surprised.... Protect yourself out there!

Sorry but I will have to desagree with Grego. I'm 26 and I went this summer for the first time to the island. When I as 17/18 I started to discover the culture of Ibiza and since then I been following more regular the clubs and what was happening there. My first plan to visit Ibiza was in 2020 summer but with the pandemic I had to postpone the dream.
Finally this year I was able to spend my holidays in the magic island and it was better than I expected except one thing: Going out in this case to, Hi. I remember seeing videos and read the experiences of people in clubs like Pacha, Amnesia, Space and more recently Hi and people were able to move around the club with no problems.
In this summer I attended to the Afterlife party and it was the worst experience I had in my life in a club. I already went to a sold out parties in ADE, Sonar but nothing compares to what I experience in Hi.
When I enter at the club at 1:30am (Massano playing) it was already impossible to enter to the main room. The two entrances was already full with people that was impossible to pass or seen anything to the cabine. I gave up and went to the 2nd room and it was the same, full packed with no space, only a small space for people walking by. So I had to go to the terrace and stayed there until 3:40am, by this time I went to the main room (Camelphat playing) and with a lot of sacrifice I manage to pass just 5 meters to get a space for me and my girlfriend were we can see the dj booth. Well this only lasted 10 minutes because with was time for Tale Of Us start playing and people started pushing each other to the point where it felt like you were being crushed from all sides. At this moment I gave up and left the main room it was impossible to stand there constatly being pushed with people trying to get in a place already full and creating a very bad mood for everyone that was already there... I already knew the place was gonna be full but I never imagine that I can't see anything I wanted. So I left at 6am very disapointed that I paid 160€ in tickets just to saw the ToU set behind the technicians space...

Of course I had to read the reviews and it seams very comum to the rest of the people that this is out of crontol. So don't tell me that we are wrong for not felling safe in a space that we paid to have fun and enjoy a good night. How can you enjoy and dance with a room overcrowded here people can't move. It doesn't makes sense. You can sold out an event but make it confortable for the people walk trought the club without being squeezed. For many tourists that doesn't know how the club scene works is fine going to a overcrowded club filming some instastories seeing David Guetta or Black Coffee just to share with their instagram followers. Of course this kinda people are going back to the clubs not because they like the music but because of this new era of Instagram and Tik Tok and with that you can do a full season with 5k everynight at your club... But for the real ones who likes a good experience in a club, security in one of the most important things and when you don't feel safe it's time to start to think and search new places to go. So let's hope that the owners and promoters of Ibiza start to care more of their costumers because I swear to you if something bad happens in a random soldout night at Hi it will be disaster. We already seen the exemple of other clubs in the past so don't wait to happen the same thing in your club...

With the social media effect, I think in the coming years more and more people will keep coming to the overcrowded events. Maybe the solution would be to move these events to the 'new privilege' with more space to dance. It would also be very nice to keep the clubs open until november!! Everyone says this september and october are being very busy in the island
