First phase of lineups for Black Coffee are out now guys

https://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/night/promoters/black-coffee

What are everyone's thoughts? A few bigger, more predictable names announced at this stage that I don't really fit the event (Loco Dice, Jamie Jones etc). Hopefully some more interesting artists announced later on now they've got the ticket sellers out, although I fear for the worst with Housekeeping hosting the club room. Last season the terrace had some great, lesser-known acts and if Housekeeping are anything to go by my expectations are far lower.

personally think this was predictable. bigger names to sell more tickets. black coffee last year was always very busy (so from this point of view it was a very successful first season), but it was not really a ticket seller. lots of people coming over from ants to check out hi and going in with bands and cheap entry. this is likely to continue to happen this summer, but with the likes of JJ the percentage of people that will actually buy a ticket beforehand should definitely rise lots and the discount bands should soon disappear.

Yeah I agree, I understand the reasoning behind it. I just think from a sound perspective JJ and Loco Dice couldn't be further from Black Coffee, but if you've got to try and sell tickets in the tricky second season I see why they have done it.

Saying that Damian Lazarus, Guy Gerber, and Lee Burridge are great pairings. I suppose you've just got to be lucky to be over on the right dates for this event.

i will

Even willing to do a BC night when elrow lineup is poor looks like i may not :D (among 5 elrow done last year, only one was quiet boring, sambodromo early aug)
Black Coffee Destino? Dc10, ushuaia & hi, he didnt really convinced me...

ok, for those at the back, lets simplify this. when you’re on a train, do you need to see the driver?

I think it depends on who you are with. If you are in a mixed group it's perfect to dance with your friends and share the moment, DJ location is irrelevant. If it's two guys, then I understand the need for a focal point.

BC and Henrik might be good, because there's a lot of overlap - Henrik's been incorporating african rhythms for years (I own pretty much everything he's made) - probably the only night that would lure me there. although I've gone off BC a bit though. he plays some nice stuff but his sets lack the druggy drama I look for

Agree. It is a good alternative to Elrow. I may be a broken record, but not long ago you never got any of these guys 250 miles near Ibiza on a Saturday night...

we never did that in London. we were more likely to sink into the wall or clown around with people

I guess there are people coming through now, who have never partied in a dark room before, which is kinda sad really. you immerse yourself in the music, escapism & people around you, not the cult of celebrity.

Reading you guys gossip I'm happy to have found this forum - one question - Will Cox play RESISTANCE opening?

According to FACEBOOK new night named ONE NIGHT STAND IBIZA

yeah the one night stand thing has been mentioned here quite a while ago.

as for coxy playing resistance opening, I might be wrong, but I tend to think he won't play that date. it's just a gut feeling, haven't got any inside info his resistance dates just yet.
