Another guess is if you've as a promoter blagged investment from someone who just pulls the plug theres not much you can do. Established parties wouldnt do this but if its a new one i'd imagine money ppl get cold feet at the last minute sometimes. They are not there so lose no face and lose alot less money than they might have. just a theory

Probably a mixture of things.

Let me get this straight from the beginning. Nick Warren is quality and still managed to keep a great sound. By all accounts this was one of the star parties last season.

I have been in San Antonio the last 5 years straight and only visited Eden 2 times. I with wristband free for a feed the greed party and last years Judge Jules opening which we won competition for.

Now don't get me wrong i would pay for Jules but that's another matter.

I had never been to Es paradis until this year either which we got another deal with.

This year there virtually no wristbands or prs about the Streets on San Antonio so I think this has hit the punter count going into these two clubs.

If they are not getting people through the door free then they are gonna struggle for drinks. Hence less money.

If they can get more to pay like me then I am not gonna drink much as prices are not that much cheaper than the better clubs.

That plus I am not use who is currently running Eden but it's not had the best run of things anyways.

Plus there is a lot of options on a Sunday this year and heard even Space was a bit lacking.

If it was Warren, digweed, Sasha, oakenfold, ornadel etc then it might pick up. Yes I am old lol

I've always thought that Eden need to change tack and either go for a 'free entry, make money at the bar' model, and make it like a big afterparty for the West End, or go the other way and only open for 2/3 big nights with one-off gigs from commercial radio artists and DJ's.

Opening every night of the week with prices that aren't high, but aren't cheap with DJ's that a lot in the West End haven't heard of just doesn't work. There's not enough on offer to convince people to walk 5 mins down the road from the West End, never mind be people to head over from the other resorts. I haven't been since its refurb but people say it's got one of the best sound systems on the island now, so it's a shame to see it underused.

Es Paradis has a similar issue, but is more of a unique club in terms of look, and of course has the Water Party as a draw.

Agreed why not open Eden and have a night with say Hannah wants on and workers DJ supporting and hand out half price drink bands and low cost entry.

Surely a club has to give a promoter longer than that?

I haven't been to RETRO so I can't comment on how it's doing, but what you say above depends on a lot of factors.

if you can see progress within the weeks then I'd agree clubs should be patient. but a lot of times it actually goes the other way around - they start of well, often because in june they have less other parties to compete with and start off doing freebies. then they suddenly lose its drive, be it because the promotional deal changes or, more often, strong competition kicks off. in that case it's perfectly understandable to opt out. and then there's the third option where it's been the same quiet for a few weeks in a row and the club's patience is simply up...

Any rumours floating about for Space's 27th anniversary? I can't decide between that or Elrow so it looks like it's down too the line ups.

it looks like it's down too the line ups.

I'm gonna throw in something else that could help your decision:

have you considered that space might open the car park as a dancefloor for the 27th anniversary party? it's not confirmed, but they've done it in the past and if they do so, this party reaches a completely different dimension.

update to the above - forget the car park thing, I believe it's not happening. so yeah, back to what you said, wait until the line up is out and then decide.

Ahh that's a downer but it'll still be a special night. I'm leaning more towards the 27th anniversary because I could always go too another Elrow event but it'll be my first and last Space anniversary as we know it.

I hear you, Stivi. I'm just pissed that a night I was really looking forward to is gone.
