I call down a fight in Dc10 1rst row ,becoming friend of DRUG dealer, free DRUG for the capitain,I decline Coke sniffing.
Some girl gave me an xtc but i lost it ?,some mate quiet pissed since :D

This was my wife’s and mates wife’s choice for this trip so was happy with to go with the flow. But music was very poor, it was like going to your local disco. Only one decent track I heard was Gloria gaynor ‘I feel love’ but then ruined by a car crash of a mix. Then ce ce peniston came on, Wtf was that about!
Purple disco machine came on after which was a lot better but by this time even my missus had enough so we had to call it a day.

Who badly mixed Gloria Gaynor out of interest?

It's the latest in the season i've ever been and i noticed it was obviously very quiet compared to what it's like earlier. Most of the West End was closed (not that i've been there for years tbf) Cafe Del Mar (new bit) was closed, some of the bars along the promenade heading towards the bay closed straight after sunset.
Weather was amazing... hot during the day but still comfortable in shorts and t-shirt at night (compared to it not getting below 30 degrees at night in July)
The demographic in our hotel was hugely different compared to when we were over in July for Clockwork. The Palmyra was packed in July with people (40's & 50's) attending CO and lots of young couples and groups.... mostly Brits and Dutch. This time i'd say that 80% of the people staying there were over 60 and a bigger mix of nationalities.
Taxi App worked again and no matter where we were on the island taxis turned up in less than 10 mins. Roads were quieter (obviously)
Carl Cox sat in front of me on our flight over from Gatwick... once we landed people clocked him and he was great with everyone that wanted a photo or a chat (not me i'm way too cool for that)
It's a lovely time of the year to visit.... we have a busy Spring and Summer next year so i might book a week in October and do nothing except read, eat, drink and swim

My observations for 2019, October 3rd - 7th.

Loved the weather, dead easy to get a cab, resort much quieter, no burning f*** out the soles of your feet on hot sand at the beach. We probably went out too much going by how we've been feeling the past couple of days?, romantic break wasn't the brief so hey ho. Wasn't astounded by anything I heard musically this year, Dixon at Pacha was good. The closings aren't any better than the rest of the season, loved that Amnesia was open until midday though, we left at 11:55. Although I wasn't disliking the music at Amnesia, Patrick Topping, Kolsch ???. Hi is very Vegas, particularly in what was the discoteca ?, Glitterbox for the DJs they have was poor musically, high street disco chart hits springs to mind. Pikes was good fun as always, Destino was decent but mobbed, we left at 10:30 for Ibiza town before moving onto Dixon at pacha. Food at Blue Marlin is alright, nothing bad about it but wouldn't go back for food, we would have stayed longer in the club / outside area if it wasn't for the chew of getting served at the bar and finding a spot outside again, mobbed!!

Might sound a bit of a narky negative post but I did enjoy my trip overall ?.

p.s the bar girls bitch faces at Amnesia get worse every year, f***ing attitudes!!!

Really? I was going to post separately, that I thought it was great to see so many of the Amnesia staff smiling, laughing and having a good time at the closing party - the security and bar staff alike. Admittedly, they are often sour-faced. But I actually thought the complete opposite at closing (last night shift for 7 months, I'd be smiling too!)

Remember the days when for the closing party you used to just pay the bouncers a tip to get in (god that must have been about 15 years ago!)...absolutely anything went as they were getting their payday (as long as you didn’t take the piss with how much you gave them)

Not every single one of them obviously but shit attitudes and a scowling faces was experienced several times. Security lads seemed fine and didn't note any issues with them.

i think donna summer sang i feel love. la gaynor sang i will survive.

I'm gonna have to jump to the defence of Glitterbox here. This was my 6th party in 3 days. While Dixon was musically enriching, Amnesia didn't always hit the mark and Octan was pretty monotonous tech that went nowhere. After those two, Glitterbox was exactly the carefree cheesy tonic that I needed. It has a big expat following. People who wouldn't go to clubs the other 6 days of the week make Glitterbox their one big night out a week. On the contrary, I think they know exactly what they are - and they do it incredibly well.

I loved hearing Donna Summer, Dan Hartman, Kathy Sledge and then Norman do his FBS routine after a week (or season) of relentless 4/4.

It's never going to be the party to go to if you want to hear forward-thinking music, and it doesn't pretend to be.

Sometimes you do get the odd guest who will dig deep (Harvey, NOW, Luke Solomon) but for the most part it is classics the audience know and love.

Plus, with this past week being the closing I'm sure the acts went cheesier and cornier than usual to mark the occasion - in the same way that Sven pulls out all of the old favourites at Cocoon closings. I've got to say I really loved it. And they've struck a winning formula. I couldn't and wouldn't do it every week, but I can understand those based here that do - it simply guarantees a good, fun night out
