*** ibiza 2018 observations ***

Fair enough to represent your own genre especially someone like her who doesn't really stray from the sound but a little too aggressive for me. I like techno as much as the next guy but someone even mentions it in the comments of her post, would 'pure techno' really sell in Ibiza, I think its been proven not so much. You do still get some, even if not a lot of 'pure techno' blended into Circo, Afterlife, Cocoon, etc. I'm not sure much more than that would ever work.

How is solid grooves doing this season? I want to go next week!! but I’m worried it’s empty like suara last year. Any opinions/ advice?

How is Abode doing? This week looked packed on social media but appreciate that is a brief moment in a long night.

From what I can tell they’ve performed as well if not better than expected

w/o wishing to reignite the genre classification wars to a non-captive audience at 00.25 on a sunday night, everybody could solve a whole load of stress by committing to not mis-labelling music/parties. This upsets the fundamentalists & people like me who would genuinely like to find some some ‘deep house’ on stream sites instead of rehash(tagg)ed prog/tribal masquerading as something ele

Music shut off in dc 10 for both rooms. Really cheesed cuz I was seeing Bedouin. But back on now after 20 mins of stoppage from Like 1110ish to 11 30ish

I remember the days when DC only has a single generator running the entire place. Literally a single drop of rain and the music would go off. Thankfully the island now has a much better electricity supply although I do miss the old fear of jamming a plug into the wall not knowing if you would be electrocuted...

Got back today. Weather was boiling especially this last week. It's definitely much quieter, I was at The Hawaii for 12 days and The Palmyra for a week before that and both hotels were nowhere near full especially The Hawaii. My daughter wanted to go to Mambo a couple of times and tbh i don't think i've ever seen it as quiet in high season even Camelphat pre party. We did the Es Vedra boat trip on a lovely, calm, hot day and there were 14 people on the boat.... also the parasailing which normally has 2 boats out most of the day was hardly seen except sunset. Bay Bar 2 for 1 cocktails most of the day?!?! The WE was also quiet the couple of times we walked through it. Not scientific analysis obviously but just the impression i got in the almost 3 weeks we were there

Also Woomoon trying to bring out the old Ibiza hippy essence while at the same time having the biggest VIP area on the whole island? LOL

palmyra any good? i am staying there in oct for first time.

the cost of ibz was bound to bite sooner or later now that dance music festivals are pretty much everywhere hence not surprised its quieter

Yeah really good. We stayed there for a long weekend for Clockwork and it was great... Moved across to the Hawaii for the second part of the holiday and into a room half the size and only HB instead of AI for roughly the same money.

Yeah...i agree with this comment. I love Woomoon...it's a great concept..but it's not just the VIP area..it's the drink and food (coupon) prices too.
It made me do Zoo Project on my second visit instead.

I've got to be honest i was looking forward to it (and it was my 14 year olds first experience of doing something "clubby" in Ibiza and she at least enjoyed it) but i was massively unimpressed. The majority of the outside venue that wasn't on the side of a mountain was a massive VIP area, drinks were Amnesia prices (f**king scandalous when you have kids there that they are charging 9 euros for a tiny bottle of water in 35 degree heat) and tbh the music absolutely bored me to tears.... over an hour of guys playing the pan pipes and chanting might be in keeping with the supposed vibe of the night but you can't charge 30 Euros each to get in for that?!?! When the DJ started it was REALLY dull deep/techy house and i just couldn't get into it....

Having said all that my daughter enjoyed it and i've been to so many different parties in Ibiza over 20 years that i guess i'm not going to enjoy every one.... if she hadn't been enjoying it i'd have left by 9.30 though.

Though will be interesting what happens next season. BA and Easy have so many empty seats this season (though this is obviously partly due to hottest U.K. summer in 30+ years) you can see them cutting back capacity next season. So flights will probably go up and hotels down.

We usually do 10-14 days end of August /early September. This year I’ve decided to spend some “relaxed time” on the Amalfi Coast in Italy and then 5 days in Ibiza. Discovered a direct flight from Naples to IBZ! And never thought I’d see the day when a 4* hotel in Amalfi is cheaper than Ibiza! That time has come. Strange times.

we’re doing it the other way round Mr Why. ibz then rome.

actually champing at the bit now. we’ve had loads of nice wkds on costa brava since June but very light on music (and the rest..)

interesting reading about downturn - only a good thing imo.
