how much do you spend on water?

if this iodine thing actually works and the word gets spread around the clubs will be funked

all I can say is HAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA :)

but it would probably result in higher entry prices or stricter searches at the door in a year or 2 :?

I'm not sure why people say you can't refill your water bottles.

I refilled them at the bathrooms of Space, Amnesia and Pacha and all of them had drinkable tap water.

I don't see the problem.

Whats water like in Oz though? I'm tempted to funk it and just drink out the taps but really don't wanna get ill.

Have always bought water previously. The worst is Pacha for beer you put it down then some twat nicks it!!

the water here is very clean steve, much cleaner than all European countries i've been too.

Which is why i am surprised at all the negative reaction to the tap water on here. In each of the clubs i went to, didn't taste any unusually high levels of salt and while the water wasn't fantastic, it was certainly drinkable.

No less than they deserve, the greedy b*stards. The prices they charge for beer etc although a rip off are fair enough, but water is a god given right and to charge around 5.00 for a small bottle is disgusting. Not to say dangerous in the heat over there.

Yeah I thought that mate was willing to do the same as you but might as well get this Iodine to avoid any probs, did you get funny looks filling from the taps though???

Last year I did water re-fills from taps in the toilet, but had to sneak the bottle by the doorlady as empty ones were confiscated. The only problem with the water is the mineral content differs from British water so our stomachs aren't used to it, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I agree, water should be on offer for all to stop over heating but if it isn't we have to devise our own solutions heh heh heh ;)

From the security and staff you mean? No i didn't........or if they were giving e funny looks i didn't notice it.

If they did try and confiscate my bottle i would tell them to f*ck off........they have no right to do that.

Right - just spoke to an advisor at Field and Trek and what you want are Iodine drops. They cost about £4 and are perfect for dodgy tapwater. Only problem is it does taste a bit ruff but you can also buy Neutraliser which gets rid of the taste. The drops are in a bottle like you get for ear drops.

Ok so Iodine drops it is.

But what on earth is the neutraliser?!

Wouldn't worry about the neutraliser mate that is getting things far too technical. The Iodine will do the job on its own.

i dont understand what the iodine does? the problem with ibizan tap water is that it is salinated isnt it? iodine certainly isnt going to remove any salt, it just kills bacteria which salty water wont have anyway.

the problem with tap water in spain in general is that it has a higher mineral content that ppl from the uk arent used to and therefore cant handle, this causes the sh1ts and the stomach cramping not a bacterial infection that you may get from dodgy tap water in india or somewhere.

Would have thought being a "water purification" aid it will ensure the mineral content is netralised to an acceptable level and get rid of any oddities. After all our water is treated over here!!!

minerals cant just be removed by another chemical, they have to be removed from the water by filtration or by evaporation of the water, which leave the mineral behind. iodine is just as anti-microbial agent.

hopefully someone with a better chemistry knowledge can prove me wrong, but i wouldnt like to see alot of ppl treating water with iodine when it isnt solving the cause of the problem.

Yeah water purification tablets get rid of bactria stuff that could be harmful. They might make it taste better maybe. The tap water taste's salty but the salt has been filtered out. You can drink the water fine in Ibiza so why put iodine in it.
The problems for English people with the water in Ibiza and many other countries is the mineral content being higher and this can cause things like upset tummys or dioreeah if you arn't used to the change. Using iodine or water purification tablets won't solve the problem, these things are used for killing harmful bacteria.
Best thing is on the first day drink a bit of ibiza water and on the second day drink some more and see how you get on with it.

Right, just bought said Iodine and after reading the label think I will be taking it back. Firstly I think you are right about getting rid of minerals, it won't!!! All it does is treat infected water!!!! Secondly it will taste foul and I can't find anywhere that sells neutraliser. Finally and this is the worst bit, it will colour the water a shade of purple!!!!

Looks like a refund is on the cards. I think what dfunky said is right...... just have it in moderation. At the end of the day almost every British person prob has the sh1ts in Ibiza so it won't make that much difference :P

I think most peope get the shits in Ibiza because of the change in climate combined with alcohol and the occasional bit of dodgy food.
Take some tablets to settle the stomach there are loads out there they don't solve the problem but they help.
