Hotel discussion thread

Well it appears I’ve gone viral today for having a whinge on X about Jet2 not allowing solo travellers to upgrade to sea view rooms 😂

Long story short, cancelled my Ibiza booking for sept and rebooked with TUI for the same hotel as they allowed the room upgrade. Lost my deposit but there’s nothing better than having your own space with a decent view the morning after the night before!
Where, Twitter?

Bonus and salary increase confirmed yesterday, so it's time to look again! A noticeable increase in hotel rooms this year for me. In previous years it's been negligible, but when I look for August this year the cheapest is around £110 per night for 1 person, previously it was around £80. The friend I usually come with(and has pulled out of trips a few times now) has booked an apartment for a month, so it's the possibility of the solo room premium again.

I mean, a flat white in London is about £4.50 now, so it's maybe not as batshit as it sounds unfortunately. 21 euros for a cocktail is mad though
a coffee means an espresso, so €6 is quite expensive. i paid €1.80 for a coffee and pastel de nata in funchal last month.

Walked up to the Parador yesterday. Fantastic views across Ibiza from the top, especially as it was such a clear day.

Looks great in parts but lots still seems unfinished - including the gardens and outdoor pool area. Would love to explore inside and see more of the historical architecture but most of the indoor spaces (even the Reception?) were blocked off without a key card.

One of the only indoor parts available to access was the indoor restaurant which was rather underwhelming especially given the prices quoted. If I was ever to eat or drink there, I would want better views but the windows there were pretty small and it was quite a dull space.

Nice to see the Phoenician heritage around the entrance which was able to be viewed by all.
