Mongibello: new hotel by Concept Hotel Group

The Hotel Palladium Don Carlos will change management, and its name, this summer to become the new Mongibello Hotel in Ibiza, operated by Concept Hotel Group.

The asset, acquired by the joint venture of Bain Capital and Stoneweg in February 2022, will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment and welcome its first guests in the summer of 2023.

Concept Hotel Group, which currently manages seven hotels on the island, makes its debut in the Santa Eulalia area with a destination hotel that evokes the Italian Dolce Vita at its most Mediterranean. ILMIOdesign undertook Mongibello's architecture and design and took inspiration from the Amalfi Coast, linking it to Ibiza with a fresh, casual touch.

One of our aims was to work together with the renowned PR Carlos Martorell to select and honour the people who are experts in "The Art of Living" throughout its 32 existing suites. The suite's illustrations, by Ibizan artist Marcos Torres, will pay tribute to Ángel Nieto, Angela Molina and Tony Pike, among others. In addition, the hotel will have a secret room named Lola's, as a tribute to this legendary Ibiza nightclub of the 60s and 70s.

Mongibello takes its name from the fictional town where the plot of The Talented Mr. Ripley unfurls, one of the most famous works by the great American author Patricia Highsmith. In the novel, Mongibello is a small village on the Amalfi Coast; hence the hotel's design is inspired by this Italian region.

The new hotel's main innovations include a collaboration with an international brand that specialises in cocktails and it is inside the "50 best bar of the world". The Signature restaurant (with direct beach access). Signature is a new brand from The Silencio Group, creators of Silencio, Silencio de París and El Silencio Ibiza, the beach club in Cala Molí committed to art and gastronomy on the island.

At Concept, we complement our creations with groundbreaking elements to match the aesthetics of each hotel, with a weaknesses for classic cars and jukeboxes to the fore. Our most ambitious project was never going to be less, with a 70's jukebox in the lobby, an Alfa Romeo Spider parked at the entrance, and an Italian baroque-style fountain with a Testa di Moro as the protagonist. There is also a gazebo to organise weddings, acoustic concerts and photoshoots, plus a lemon cart to enjoy a fresh lemonade after a swim in Es Caló de s'Alga.

Prestigious Spanish ceramics company, Casa Maricruz, has created the hotel's tableware, and the designer Sergio Prieto has created an exclusive mirror inspired by Ettore Sottsass for the rooms.

The Mongibello Hotel promises to be a redoubt only suitable for carefree holidaymakers, encased in a beachfront location just seven minutes from the Santa Eulalia promenade.

Miguel Casas, Stoneweg Hospitality's Managing Director, commented: "We have always envisioned the reconceptualisation of this hotel into a lifestyle product, and with Concept, we believe we will succeed in attracting not only the international clientele that frequents Ibiza every summer but also locals thanks to the theme and the quality of its F&B."

Arnaud Frisch, CEO of Manifesto Paris Group, said: "Our Group is opening its second beach club, this time inside the Mongibello Hotel in Ibiza, under the lifestyle brand Wanderlust, which started the rooftop trend in Paris 10 years ago. W
anderlust Ibiza will be a place to experience the latest trends in urban culture and share cocktails and street food at large communal tables in the spirit of a block party."

Diego Calvo, CEO and Co-Founder of Concept Hotel Group, said: "We have put at lot of love into creating this new brand. It is the most elegant of the Group so far, but with a touch of rebelliousness. It is a project we wanted to do because, on an aesthetic level, it conveys joyfulness and summer. At a conceptual level, it links very well with the island by the message we launched with the claim: "The Art of Living."

New artist impressions of the new Mondrian & Hyde at Cala Llonga on the link below

I am weirdly a bit sad about it. I mean I love a good luxury hotel as much as the next person, but I first went to those two Cala Llonga hotels in June 1991 as a young kid with my family, so one of the first memories I had of Ibiza. The thing I personally loved about Cala Llonga to this day was that it was a true family resort. I guess with these two hotels that will all change very fast.

Well if there opening in june.
I suppose soon thell start advertising and giving there prices on the holiday websites like jet2 etc.
Im allready booked for the el pinar apartment in cala llonga.
Im just curious of the prices for such luxury thats all and if its affordable for working class mortals like myself.

Anybody stayed at the Alua Hawaii Ibiza (Think it's name is now NYX Ibiza?) just rd from O Beach. Can't find any info on it here....

Stopped there today and, unsurprisingly, it felt a ghost town. LOTS of hotel development going on.

Stayed here last September…was nice enough bit
of a mix in terms of guests quite a few families as well as older couples...plenty of non brits as well which was good. Breakfast was decent..pool area wasn’t amazing but I’ve stayed at a lot worse.

Can anyone tell me how the area is around Hotel Abrat? In my last visit (2015), I stayed at Hostal Tarba, but seeing as I’m bringing my partner for her first time I wanted to change it up a bit.

I stand to be corrected but has the Hostal Rey in SE closed for good? Sealed with concrete in Oct and seems to have a static website. The very essence of faded glamour. The old lady on reception was a joy when we stayed and I hope she's ok.

Really good hotel and location, you have my favourite bar Golden Buddah next door, then its only a 5min walk to Mambo. Also not too far to walk to the bus station by cutting across the back of town. The sea view is worth the extra, its the famous sunset view!
