Hotel discussion thread

That's the way to do it...last minute you'll get a better deal if you can. That Ryan hotel in Ibiza town is great value usually..but again last minute...I think the 7 nights may be the issue try 2 or 3 nights?
A couple of years ago, when working, I found myself with three days of my allocation left-over in October, so found a flight + 5 nights (over a weekend) and booked it there and then. Had a great - if unexpected - time and the weather was OK, and would have been dead cheap too! Think I stayed in Figuretas, the hotel on the front by the open space. can't remember it's name, must look it up!

But deffo do that again this year, wait for the cheap deals.

Going to add my vote for Hotel Cenit on the hill between Figueretes and Ibiza Town (not that one!).

Really liked it with the staff being very helpful & friendly.
The pool area has a nice feel with it being active but not too active if you wanted to chill. I am aware this was very early season though.

The room, studio for 3, was modern and the bed very comfy. Good view over Fig from the room and the pool.

Easy walk down to and back from Figueretes and not too bad back from Ibiza Town if you follow the steps up just past Museo y Necrópolis de Puig des Molins. A more gentle incline than using the steps further up but a taxi was cheap enough if you don't fancy the walk.

Liked it enough to book when we got back for the first 4 nights of our October trip.

Yes, I enjoyed the Cenit. However my room was adjacent to the laundry, which was humming from early morning to late evening! Wasn't a problem as I would have been out most of the day, but if anyone likes an afternoon nap...!

This Easter I was adventurous and spent two nights at Hotel Vibra District in San An.

I'd just like to say how they have in such a thorough and excellent way furbished the place to cater for a certain kind of partying clientelle.

Usually hotels, once one passes the reception, have a bar, a restaurant, a large seating area, then somewhere in the middle there are doors leading to the deck/pool area. If there is a gym, it's hidden away in the basement, with only cardio machines.

At Hotel Vibra District the dominating features of the main floor (first floor) are the in-house and for-hotel-guests-only tattoo salong, a sauna, a hot-tub, a few places to get one's make-up done, and of course a large gym - with the bar, with doors out onto the deck/pool, being in the middle of it all.

The gym has the best view of all areas. This is true dedication. Best of all they have a decent selection of mid-weight dumbbells, in addition to a few standard weight machines. Guys visiting this place will easily get their muscle pump at the gym, before going to the sauna, the hot-tub, then out onto the deck/pool area to show it all off.

For the gfs, the cardio machines, then the in-house tattoo salong is almost mandatory. There is of course no privacy. The walls are of glass, and almost integrated into the bar area. One evening I found myself in the bar whilst a young lady was getting a tattoo to her crotch area. (I left the next day.)

The rooms do indeed have a toilet in what feels like a cupboard, a shower in another cupboard, and the sink out in the open. It's all in a pitch-black colour. In accordance with the dedication shown elsewhere, the shower is large enough for three people at a time, with the pitch-black colour giving off porn vibes. But they took some shortcuts with the sink. It's too high, and the lighting is unsuitable for putting on make-up. I guess you can't expect them to get everything right.

The food was great, and the staff friendly and service-minded.

Can recommend (if you are of this clientelle).

I spent a couple of nights at Es Mitjorn Hotel in San An during Easter.

This was my first visit, and an unexpected pleasure. This place is comes across better than what you'd expect from the pics on booking.com. It's a small hotel with a small deck/pool area. The building has a 1960s/1970s vibe with large rooms. It has been refurbished in recent years. Although situated in the town there is a bit of greenery outside, and actually a view of the sea. It's quiet and very much not a partying hotel. The guests were all civilized, and the staff friendly and service-minded.

There is no gym, but that didn't seemed to be missed by the kind of guests staying at this hotel. For those in need there are more than enough gyms in this part of town. There's also a store in this area that sells supplements. I decided not to take creatine from home, which would have meant taking a small amount of suspiciously looking white powder through four airports and three countries. Instead I got my holiday fix at the supplement store nearby this hotel.

Anyway, please don't stay here. I don't want it to become too popular.

I spent the last four days at Hotel Abrat, which had now opened for the season. This is my favourite hotel in Ibiza.

This hotel hits the sweet spot of location, views, facilities, non-partying guests and price. I particularly like the large garden with real grass. This year more guests had discovered the roof top bar, with has excellent views of the sunset. In a few years it will be packed.

The gym still only has cardio machines. It's probably just as well that it is hidden away in the basement.

We've stayed in Abrat a few times now, completely agree with your review, it's a nice mix of everything

For me, Mitjorn is like a childhood home. I stayed there every summer for the first ten years I visited the island. I got to know the family that runs the hotel and I even got to join them in a tomato fight. And of course, on the locals' side! ;) I still visit the hotel every summer to say hello at the reception. Very nice people and a really nice hotel indeed! 😊👍

I spent 3 nights at Occidental Ibiza. It was a steal at 262€ for 3 nights all inclusive. The room was quite small, no chair, no table inside the room (there was a table on the balcony).

Everything was well maintained, the mattress was soft and new and each room had an individual aircon unit, meaning greedy management cannot throttle down the aircon 😍

Guests were very diverse: families with kids, older people, younger people, groups of people, French, Spanish, English, German etc.

I loved the deep pool (up to 2.80 m deep). There was a separate shallow pool for kids and I think 2 more pools in the sports area that I didn't explore much.

The all inclusive food was good. No haute cuisine, but good quality and variety. There was a grill station making eggs to order in the morning and grilling meat and fish for lunch and dinner. I especially loved lamb chops on Sunday 😍 The food looked fresh, there was no sad-looking last week's mortadella for breakfast. No fresh pressed OJ for breakfast though, OJ from concentrate was watered down.

I wasn't that impressed by all inclusive drinks. The uninviting looking so called "beach bar" was indoors, they had cocktail shakers, but no cocktails were available (no mint/lime/etc stocked). They had wine, beer, mixed drinks. Having to line up indoors for a drink kind of ruined the vibe for me.

The staff were great. Not all restaurant staff spoke English though, which created difficulties for some other guests.

The 20 or so parking spots in front of the hotel were constantly occupied by the same cars the whole time. I always found a parking spot in the narrow back street behind the hotel, there is also supposedly a public parking lot nearby (didn't look for it).

Overall a good hotel if the price is right.

Anyone got any strong opinions either way on the following hotels for a September trip for a small group?

Abrat
Cubanito
Sol Bahia
Vibra Yamm Sunset (don’t think it’s open yet but in case anyone has any insight?)

Good sized pool area and location probably most important as well as good standard rooms etc

Loved Sol Bahia last year, I stayed solo but couldn’t fault it. The apartments were a decent size, the food and drinks were good and very reasonably priced at the pool bar,

It’s a good 25 min walk to the centre of San An but there’s plenty of places to eat and drinks nearby.

Stayed in Cubanito and Abrat

I wouldn't consider the pool at Cubanito decent sized to be honest, but it's a lovely hotel

We stay at Abrat quite often, can't fault it and good location - ideal for groups I'd say
