Heading over on Friday ourselves, but thankfully its a villa instead. Its probably more a Brexit thing / non EU?Just in the Canaries and can see this new Spanish law of having to give the hotel more information such as home addresses will cause queues in busy season. It's like going back in time having to write out everything you've already typed out to the tour operator or booking site. Not sure I get the benefit of all this extra info to the Spanish Government but hey ho.

if it's a legally registered villa then the owner has to send the details of all guests to the guardia civil. i did this when i rented my villa but then it was only the details on passports that were required and i also had to give these details to the tax man when making my tax declaration and for the ecotax. i don't know for sure but i would imagine that the new rules would apply to villas as the reason is for national security. if you are not asked for your passports on check in then the owner is winging it.Heading over on Friday ourselves, but thankfully its a villa instead. edit. my neighbour in san jose owned a big hotel and told me that the guardia had been there to arrest people whose passports had identified them on a wanted list.
great tipp, thank you. Do you know whether you can park a rental there at the hostal, without paying the official salinas parking?I found Pepitas on Instagram! For some reason I thought it had closed. I don't know if she is still alive as she was already quite elderly in 2013. If you want to stay near Salines in the summer and support a friendly family business, they have very cheap double rooms compared to most. It is basic and old-fashioned with a communal eating space in the garden but only a short drunken walk away from the beach. You will however be eaten alive!

Wasn't it always like that?if it's a legally registered villa then the owner has to send the details of all guests to the guardia civil.

On my first Ibiza trip back in 2004, I had to show an ID at check in and the hotel kept my ID card for hours (it was a temporary German ID card the hotel was probably not familiar with). So I assumed hotels were required to snitch on guests back then.
Interesting. I always use my German national ID card (and not the passport) for Schengen travel, they always make a copy but return the card immediately to me. I only stayed at Vibra once (Vibra Riviera in May 2023), it was the same - ID card copied and immediately returned to me.Vibra Hotels do the same : They keep your passport for some time at check in ( 2 hours or so ). I think ,every hotel is doing this.
Yes but it was 2017. We enjoyed the hotel as it is not to big. Food and rooms were good.Anyone experiences with Vibra Cala Tarida ? I booked it , because its more quiet. With car , its not a big problem to reach it. Bus stop in front of it.

New projects:
Up until maybe even 2010 hotels always kept your passport overnight and gave them back the following day, nowadays they just photocopy the relevant page. Don't think they could keep them beyond overnight as - in many cases - it was your only ID and needed to be carried around (not that I or anyone I know did...kept in the room safe!)Wasn't it always like that?
