Hotel discussion thread [2017/2018]

I reserved a room at Hotel Playasol The New Algarb for July 8-10 and July 15-17. This will be my first visit to Ibiza. Did I make a good choice?

Is there any Hotel in Figueretes with a proper parking spot ? Normally I go to Es Canar ( Caribe or similar ) , to have no problems with the car. I hate to search hours and hours for a parking lot in my holiday time.
I need a car to go to the beaches or other places. It was a desaster to find some parking space in October around Ibiza town and figueretes. It will be impossible in June / Jul , I think. At PdB its easier than expected at the day.

I'd say no. Let the bus do the driving, there are enough of them and you can walk into town easily enough through the tunnel.

Too late , I already booked a hotel in Es Canar and a car. You are right : Normally its better to use a bus. But I am lazy. Its easy to go out the hotel and jump into the car and then think about the beach
or beach bar where I want to go. Amante or something in PdB ? Ok lets go. Its not a good way for torism in Ibz. Next dates I use the bus and no car.

Not having a car in ibiza is the wrong answer!(unless for people doing drugs/get smashed with booze , so it means a lot of people here :D )
its been already told the only free available P in figueretas areclose to el diario de ibiza , Pacha parking or Ikea parking, u got 20 -30mn walk to your hotel...ive took 2 times the bus in ibz when car war parked 5 miles away & i was telling to myself, no more again this shit (waiting & 30mn to go from figueretas to pdb with bus , 10mn with car )

Try to get a parking spot at el diario. Impossible in most cases, in October. During season its nearly impossible. The only spot the street in front of diario in the direction of desert. 3 mile or something.

there is 2 big parkings in front of el diario (ones with sands) , 2nd one on right was new last year & always a lot of places...i used it opening, july aug & closing & no issue at all & i even have the spot in the shadow

Has anyone got an info on The Club Aura, Port Des Torrent, orbeen there recently, looking at taking my family there including two 7year olds and a baby?
Thanks in advance

just back today so a review of the accomodation:

Palladium Palace (PDB)

As soon as you walk in its an impressive place with excellent staff (was offered a refreshing hot towel on arrival)

The Room
We spent enough on the holiday without splashing out on a suite so it was a standard room - would be a good size for two, with the wee ones bed in the room, it made it ok - nice balcony, good bathroom facilities and decent storage

The Pools
There are two pool areas - the main "adults" one has a small basic kiddies one and the main pool is two huge squares of water combined - incredibly deep at one end - a funcational pool rather than a "pretty" one
The other pool is not deep at all but swimmable, this pool is nicer to look at- it has a nice kiddie one next to it

The Dining Experience
Breakfast is only in the main buffet restaurant, a very good selection ranging from pancakes, omlettes and cooked breakfast foods - to cereals and healthy options.

For lunch there are three options - main buffet, portafino mediterrean buffet & the sports bar.
The main buffet offers lovely options without being too adventurous, the sports bar is along the lines of burgers, hot dogs etc
Portafino is the real find for lunch - great buffet options inc two daily paella dishes to choose from

In the evening you can buffet it (with a more adventurous approach inc "themed selections") or sports bar
Otherwise you can book one of three restaurants - Italian, TexMex and the Portafino again - this time the latter having a proper sit down meal.
We tried the Italian and the Mediterranean ones
Italian was lovely food without having an extensively "special" menu - lots of pasta and pizzas

Portafino at night was spectacular - attentive service & stunning food, epecially my grilled octopus

Other Facilities

Booze - decent selection on the "free" choices inc Cruzcampo on draught. you could try other beers at a cost and likewise the spirits etc but the ones as standard did include named brands (one night i had gin & tonic - getting Gordons on one order and Tanquery on another order.

Kids Entertainment - absolutely wonderful, kids club is open 10-6 but our wee one made friends easily and didn't need to go there so much, the kids staff were so good with them and at 20:30 every night there was a Mini Disco that my wee one loved so much- they then have shows on which the kids can enjoy too (although one dance show included a section dancing to Azelia Banks 212!) - they even put on a kids breakfast one morning a week with lots of naughty food and characters in big costumes.

Beach - there is an area at the end of PDB beach technically reserved for residents of the Palladium, by the end of the week they had introduced fold up cushions with pyramid headrest instead of loungers, much comfier!

I'll probably think of more things to add to this later

Tip - if you want the specialist restaurants at an early time (7ish) for kids etc - book BEFORE breakfast, if you leave it till later, they only have 9pm onwards

Hi, a friend is coming out to Ibiza on his own whilst I'm over with my husband and is looking for a hotel with pool, in Ibiza Town / Figueretas area.

He's never been to Ibiza so wants somewhere nice with a pool & balcony but will be going out clubbing and wants to visit the superclubs.

I would normally recommend Es Vive but it's booked up for his dates (late May). Any other suggestions? Unsurprisingly, most places are booked up already but El Hotel, Nautico Ebeso, Ushuaia, Royal Plaza, are showing availability. Any recommendations out of those? He's got a healthy budget but won't want to spend crazy money.
