When you are ready for a permanent job you won't come onto the board asking us to talk you out of it...

I know, damn you all, you were all meant to tell me not to take permanent job and keep with freelancing and it's really pissed on my fire  ;)

The freelance market is very bouyant at the moment, so now's a good time to be a freelancer..

OK here are the pros and cons as I see em for taking the perm job:

Pros:

- You'll get the chance to really get some deep knowledge of your client's brand & business, which is rewarding and will help develop some skills you may not get a chance to use freelancing

- Looks good on the CV to have big agency and global client experience

- Will give you opportunities for promotion within the agency, meaning if you decide to freelance, you'll ba able to freelance more senior positions - meaning more interesting work and more money

- You'll have a steady income flow, sick leave, holidays and probably health care

- I don't think you'll have venom's problem about legacy systems - marketing is marketing really, you experience at a big agency should improve your freelancing chances, not lessen them

Cons:

- Now's a great time to Freelance due to the boyancy of the market - so make hay while the sun shines and all that

- You don't have to deal with the politics of a large agency, because they can really bring you down

- You're not going to get pigeon-holed into one type of industry because you can take on a variety of clients

Hope that helps. As robder said, I might know ppl at the agency in question so let me know and I can ask them what it's like to work there.

Thankyouuu, you're a darlin ;) Altho lol@ me being too scared to pick up witheld number cos I thought it was going to be Recruitment Agency wanting to know my decision

it's a really good thing to have the options, you should be proud of your self...

Personally i'd take the perminant job, but I'm a boring fool who will probably be in the same job all my life

but as everyone said you can always just take it for the experience, and take temp work again in the near future if it does not work out...

I'm sure it'll work out for the best what ever decison you take

How do you manage to balance sich a mad social life and (what I assume is) a pretty hectic work life?

How did you end up going freelance as well?

Barbie - I have gone into sensible mode to give my twopenneth worth... I did the same thing in 1997. Did lots of Agency work made lots of money and basically was still able to have a totally spangled lifestyle, however, I made a decision to take the job I am still in now as it opened up so many opportunities for me - and that wasnt even taking in to account the remuneration side of things.....

Anyway what i am trying to say is that I now think its the best thing I did. Obviously there are pros and cons with doing something like this, the cons being, having to take into account other people at work (especially those with rugrats) when I want to book holidays, and having to plan weekends depending on my workload.... to be honest I am so much more sensible on weekends now unless I have planned for the event and its made me less of a space cadet at work....

Basically, we all have to take charge at some time, it was a good time for me. It was really scary too - worrying if going to work for a load of Consultants in Management and IT - would I fit in being as flaky and also being a Northern bird too, but it was no problem at all - apparently I am a breathe of fresh air and take no shit!! 8O
