Getting to/from Ibiza latest info

Thanks. It makes sense doing it at the gate, as you are about to board. Otherwise if they did that as you entered airside, and your flight gets cancelled, and they ship you off to a hotel (but your passport's stamped.....), things get complicated!
Isn’t it done on landing?

At Ibiza Airport for the dreaded flight home. It never gets any easier!

Checking baggage in to the Gatwick counter and they are checking ALL documents - negative test result, passenger locator form, passport.

Lots of people haven’t done their passenger locator form so having to wait at the side and fill it in on their phone.

So not much social distancing…

After all that there's the Day 2 PCR test back home?
Also if you haven't any bags to check in - can you go to the gate directly and have everything checked there?

Yes, although the airport staff said they didn’t need to see proof of a booked Day 2 test in Ibiza, only in the UK.

If checking bags in, leave extra time as the queues were pretty long - even for Speedy Boarding (which we had), due to staff going along the queues to check documents and lots of people needing to download & complete forms.

Update for anyone who is concerned about passport and vaccine status not matching: I have my passport and flights in my married name and my Scottish vaccine proof letter in my birth name. Had a few days of panic over the thought of being turned away at the gate. After 4 days of trying to get to speak to a human at Ryanair, they've confirmed that taking my marriage certificate is adequate proof. So, Ibiza in 1 day, 22 hours and 11 minutes...

bag check was crazy today. We just managed to get through gate just now, our family name was last to be called as well 😂
No issues with forms either.
Have a feeling might spend more time at the airport than actually on holiday! Is the end of August though, and queues are usual + the added bonus that strike season seems to have been cancelled this year!

I think there are check-in queue issues all over, couple of weeks ago it took my sister 3 1/2 hours to get through TUI check-in at Madeira airport because she had a suitcase and they were only checking documents at the desk. Panic queue jumping people on earlier flights one after the other as they got to 1/2 hour before take-off and passengers still stuck in line for each of them. Nightmare !

Nothing checked (besides passport, obv) on return to Gatwick. Surprisingly, as they are usual quite thorough.

Very smooth flight and even landed 15 mins early.

Was on same flight. Didn’t even have to show locator form as passport had the info, so the boarder control guy told us.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but if you are coming over for 2 days (less than 72 hours) can you do the 72 hour test in the UK before you fly home from Ibiza? Or does it have to be done in Ibiza no matter what?

Could be a way of taking the risk out of testing positive whilst there and not being able to come home (and yes I am getting desperate).

I've thought of that plane and it does seem to work, take the test you will need to return to the UK before you go so you have the proof of negativity (assume for/return from Ibiza that's just the cheaper antigen) and no need to test over there. Then the additional 2-day PCR test back home.

Think the key is getting the first test (and the result) as close to your departure time as you can, and leave spare hours for the arrival back in case of delay.

When Belgium/Netherlands opens up I'm gonna try that on Eurostar.

2H76 - I'm getting stressed reading your posts. You'll be fine, you'll see!
I need someone to meet me over there and guide me through it all! Once done I'm sure I'd be fine, but my first line of defence is panic. But when all's done, if I got covid over there and had to self-isolate, then bang, really am up the Swanny without a paddle.

Same issue for me, can't take the risk of getting a positive test over there. But if we can get confirmation this idea of doing the test before we go is possible, a cheeky weekend could be in order!

You'll be fine. You aren't alone in worrying about it, but you do have the advantage of this resource giving you a head's up about what to do and what to expect.

The airport and airline staff are being very understanding and accommodating, they know this is all new and daunting to most travellers.

As a few people have mentioned further up, predictably, some people are turning up to the airport in a sorry state from the night before and still managing to board their flights with the help of staff. I'm not advising anybody does that, but if they are managing, I truly think you will be fine

Yes, you can. It's the UK government that require this test, not the Spanish or Balearic. It still needs to be done via a proper supplier though, with results QR'ed and linked to the individual. The free lateral flow tests won't be accepted
