Getting to/from Ibiza latest info

What tests have you booked and where abouts in Belfast? I have family there who are looking for a LAMP test or something that makes the 48 hour rule less stressful

No LAMP options from here I’m afraid. PCRs booked with Randox. And antigens, but cancelling those on Monday.

Have you found anywhere that does a quick turnaround or guaranteed within 24 hours of the test? If you're flying from Belfast i take it you're on the 17.10 flight?

Yep that’s our flight. I haven’t been able to find anyone else. We’re using the Randox Travel Centre express PCR, in person test at Randox Holywood which is £60. (Also options at City airport, International airport, Randox HQ Crumlin and Newry I think). Friday morning.

They take details of flight number and departure time so I hope they take this into account. Their t&cs say results by 11:59pm next day but I’m hoping this is just to cover their backs for any total disasters. I’ve rang to confirm turnaround and been told 12-24 hours but up to 11:59. People seem to be getting results around the clock 24/7. There are some grim reviews of their service on the mainland but mainly for day 5 release tests which occasionally haven’t been arriving in time. I hope the Northern Ireland lab is under a little less pressure.

Some independent clinics in Belfast are saying they can guarantee 24 hour turnaround but they’re £125+ each plus in the fine print they say delays can happen plus they use Randox anyway. Whether they have a fast track arrangement or not, I don’t know. But we currently need 3 so £375 is just too hefty for me along with everything else needed to come back again.

The temporary NI proof of vaccine system went live on Friday night so we’ve applied for that which can take up to 7 days then you have to collect the certificate at SSE arena. But I’ll need to know by Wednesday or Thursday so I can cancel the tests in time for a refund.

The adventures continue.

Sorry edited my post as you were replying. You can get same day LAMP tests in Dublin Airport which takes away the stress of wondering about results although it's an hour away. €149 with results in a couple of hours

If we get our proof of vaccine certificate in time and it’s just our 12 year old needing a test I’ll definitely consider the trip down the road for this. Cheers.

Has anyone come back to the UK from Ibiza since it changed to the green list? I got back last night but my passenger locator form and text from the government says I've come back from an amber country!

So with UK Government set to announce today that many restrictions in the UK will end on July 19th, I wonder if they'll be any relaxing on return to UK testing? I've held of booking these for our trip due to Friday week, in case.

If you didn't have to do them, I'd still take NHS ones with us to check ourselves, but not having to pay for 2 x Lateral Flows, 4 x PCRs would save over £200

Same here. Were doing the 5 day one too , total Ive worked out is 370quid for us. I think even if you dont have to quarantine they'll say you have to do a single PCR on Day 2 , like for green countries now.
The BBC website suggests no announcement is to be made on travel restrictions today, despite Johnson saying last week it would be outlined further in "a few days" or something.

It'll probably be from 26th July regarding any changes in quarantine coming in, but yes looks like the PCR on day 2 will remain in place.

ps for anyone planning the Randox pre departure home test option, friends of mine used it at the weekend. They sent their samples via a Randox dropbox in Scotland and got their results back 15 hours later. Obviously not a timeframe set in stone for everyone, but reassuring nonetheless.

I also got back to the UK last night. My PLF shows 'Status: GREEN'. I never received a text meesage.

Heathrow border control was just chaos. Took me about 75 minutes to get through. Required documents to be checked were Passport, Covid test form, Passenger Location form and confirmation of Test package bought for UK return.

In the end I finally ended up going through the (crap) Passport self scan gates. My other documentation was never checked - no-one to show it to! What a farce.

On way out from Ibiza though at the check-in I was asked for my PCR confirmation certificate. Thankfully my Antigen form was OK. Worrying for a moment.

Hope that's the case but the green 'watchlist' makes it a bit more volatile.

Wow... I would be raging. That should be a national scandal.

Indeed. Priti Patel is more interested in starving kids in dinghy boats than adequately staffing Border Control staff at major airports.

Tories have been slashing Border Control budgets since they got back into power

Automated Gates on the left (with no document checking), manned gates on the right. The room was about twice this width, so more manual gates to the right. You couldn't choose which lane you went into, they also kept altering the snaking lanes so that people way behind us got moved in front. There was also about a 15 minute queue in the corridor to get into this room. Signs everywhere saying 'Keep your distance'!

All indoors also with no windows to open - That's surely a riskier thing to have happening than most of the restrictions which have been in place once you get into the country ? Is there any airport in UK which has got this slicker because at the moment even if everything else is well managed both ends, the process of passing through UK borders on return is enough to freak anyone hesitant out...

Getting the heebee jeebees just looking at that picture... it seems the macro level bureaucracy described in this thread is not only headache-inducing for those involved but now it turns out also pointless too. what a time to be alive etc

Gatwick is prob better if you can get there, based on how little flights there are at the moment

Unfortunately for me BA currently aren't flying from there.

I was originally scheduled to fly from London City Airport which is great, really small so waiting times are usually fairly minimal. Smaller sized planes from there too. Unfortunately all City fights were cancelled from June and I had to move to Heathrow - which I knew was going to be an issue with Border control. To be fair flight out from there was great - but that was over two weeks ago when things were much quieter.

If it's like this now though with just a handful of green countries, I dread to think what it'll be like when travel really opens up.

update: I had to call the govrnment covid19 travel hotline, spoke to an advisor, told him of my situation, who told me Ibiza is on the green watch list, not the green list (!) I corrected him and told him to go and check again, and he apologised.

I also told him that I won't be quarantining and he said that is fine 😂

I would advise anyone reading this thread to fly to Gatwick if they can. 10 people on my flight, no one checking documentation when you land and my luggage was on the carousel by the time I had scanned my own passport!
