Gangs Abroad

Lower Class:
speaks in sentence fragments to children no reading for pleasure, ,TV on continuosly, children communicate by hitting, racism taught to children, weapons are purchased for the children to play with [4]

Criminal class:
strikes children and grunts at them encourages children to play in the street.

by class I mean how you act socially, how you portray yourself to other people. Self awareness.

sorry I am probably not making any sense

No, I fully understand and agree with that definition. I suppose it comes down to how we were brought up as children and about respect and manners....although thats another can of worms

The two nights I went to the west end I had no trouble but I did see a group of guys knock about a guy for no reason until the bouncers stepped in. What you do wether it is being pissed or out of your head is fine as long as you don't interupt someone elses rights. I am not english but I cring when a english speaker shows a lack of class.

We went the W/E a few times as some of our contacts where there & a few of my mates were not clubbers who wanted somewhere with a chance of pulling. Nothing wrong with that?

its not my kind of place at all & i was gagging to get back to lovely ibiza town when i was there.

but i'm 29 & living with a woman.
not 19 and single.

i would wager that its only a very small lairy minority who cause any trouble (which we did not see once when there btw), not the majority of late teens/early 20's having a great time.

I put myself up to be shot here I know but it is very unfair to judge everyone who goes there by the actions of a few. I do wonder sometimes what the average age of posters is on here & perhaps its a bit skewed in the older age - cue demonisation of all west end goers, 'beer boys' (they dont have to be all aggresive ya know) etc.

I think you will be quite surprised that the majority of people on here are quite the opposite (young I mean, if under 25 is young), if you have a look in the thread on how old are you, you will see what i mean.

when i was 17/18/19 and coming to ibiza i spent some of my ibiza-time in the west end - in between trips to pacha, amnesia, space, getting lost trying to find salinas etc.

now, aged 28, i wouldn't dream of going to the west end. Just like the 19 year old me would have never considered going to l'elephant and paying hundreds of euros for food....or driving round trying to find quiet beaches. - still inbetween the trips to pacha, amnesia and space.

I'm no better person now than i was then, little older, little wiser, lot more cash. So to tar everyone in the west end with the same brush is harsh.

That said, some people in the west end are just w*****s. Even 19 year old me could see that.

I don't think anyone is trying to demonise everyone who goes to the West End. It's "the few" that's the problem. And as the West end can get pretty rammed , "the few" can turn into a significant number.

I don't think everyone there is a yob. But there are a lot of yobbish stereotypical "brits on the piss" there. And that often leads to bother when they act like lairy XXXXX. Everytime we walk through the West End on a night the missus always hates it and is really on edge as we dodge the aggressive piss heads acting like bell ends. I'm not knocking those who like it, but let's not pretend it's a bloody garden of roses, because it ain't.

I'm surprised how defensive people get about this.

can anyone guess where in san antonio this is????

well the obivous answer would be to say the west end, but i guess your going to surprise us and say something like the sunset strip? btw what are botellones, google translate doesnt seem to like that word!... I assume its bottles as in botella

a botellon is street/beach drinks party. this article is about groups of youths who congregate near their houses at midnight and beyond - have loud music, drinks parties, buy and sell drugs, sh1t, p1ss in the street and jump over or break the fences to their houses and leave all the bottles and other rubbish in the street where they've been.............

yes of course there are. the vast majority in fact. my little example of boorish behaviour above is from my favourite club amnesia. it's to illustrate that there is good and bad in all and that you can't pigeon hole people because they go here, there or somewhere else. my only involvement this is that i find the hypocracy of a certain sector somewhat amusing.
unfortunately we live in the real world not an ideal world so should accept that not everyone or everything is perfect.

IMHO a comparison to the Mathew Street area in Liverpool may be drawn to San An West End,similar in size, clientelle and facilities on offer.A big difference though between the two is the fact that on every street corner/junction,there are at least a couple of police keeping an eye on things,as well as doormen on "scally alert" via radio, why dont we see this in the West End instead of the usual van ,scooter and ambulance waiting to struggle through the crowds at the foot of the main street?
