Is it not that drug taking clubbers think they are at the top of the pecking order in Ibiza and think that what they do is morally acceptable as they think it’s the norm over there.??

From my perspective (that of a normal tourist) there is no difference between the loud and aggressive drunks of the west end and the ‘off their head’ tripping clubbers who try to out cool each other. Both groups exist outside the fringes of social acceptability so whose to say one is better than the other.?

I have to say, I hate beered up chav lager louts a lot more than I hate too-cool-for-school drugged up fools in DC10.

(But I still hate them )

At least the latter are generally quite harmless, even though they're annoying. Sometimes when I've walked through the West End and there's a gang of boozed up Brit Lads you do find yourselves actually walking on eggshells and hoping that you make it past them without any kind of incident. It gives Brits SUCH a bad name.

That is what me and my friend and a guy we had met that night and was walking to Eden with - him to Eden us back home - and we just got a mouthful of dirty comments and abuse, well uncalled for. You just have to look down and keep on walking.

I'd much rather be around people who are only doing damage to themselves as opposed to those more likely to inflict damage on others.

Most 'normal' tourists walking past a group of 'off thier head' tripping clubbers would be totally oblivious to the fact that the group were in fact 'off thier heads'.

I would be interested in a straw poll on this one. Show a group of 1,000 shoppers a video of 12 boozed up and agressive brits abroad and a group of 12 'off their head' people dancing on the beach at Bora Bora and see which group the 1,000 random shoppers found most intimidating.

i merely turned our original poster's contempt of people who he believed to be beyond contempt around. i go to the west end, i was there on saturday, and i'm not crying that i've been worryingly lumped in with a group of people who aren't exactly like myself.

I think it's really cute when the middle classes do their bit for the lower end of society.

Me.

As someone who is neither I'll rather be surrounded by a group of clubbers trying to "out cool" each other than a gang of threatening louts any day of the week.

Pretty obvious to me. Just for the entertainment value.

That's the thing, I'm not generally worried about me, because I doubt even if these scumbags would ever hit a woman (although I wouldn't put it past some of them!) But when I'm walking with my boyfriend, all it takes is one comment, or one look and anything could happen, that's what scares me the most. The amount of times you hear about a guy who's defended his girlfriend, or one lone guy who's been jumped on by a group of 8 lads... it's terrifying

I have never seen any "off their head" fools about in normal daylight? OK some might be leaving clubs, etc but they are only sheepishly moving around keeping out of "normal" peoples way

the fools you may see are probably the same boozed up fools from the west end.

It is about the class of people not what they take or do, and class doesn't necessary mean they are rich or poor.
