Once when i was there, there was some kind of freak tropical storm that just came and went in about 10 mins.

It was amazing but the weirdest part was that from formentera you could see this massive black cloud raining directly over es vedra but eivissa itself was unaffected.

The supernatural power of es vedra!!

Was that last year in september?, same kind of thing happened to us, this wind just came and blew all the parasols around the beach and it went really dark and then 10 mins later it was as if it had never happened.

mambo - it was a few years ago actually but it was really freakish, quite scary for a minute or two and then just really surreal cos formentera was bright sunshine but u cud see over eivissa this massive black cloud but it was only rainin over es vedra.

when i worked in ibiza 2001, it was apparently the rainiest september in the last 50 years, on average it rains 2-4 days in september but that year it must have rained about 8 or 9 times and every time it battered it down, the beach at mambo got washed away so many times they eventually didn't bother replacing it and of course the lights went out all over the island.

another weird one was when in june that year it started blobs of sand, which is quite common apparently (as a result of sand storms in the sahara being caught up in the clouds heading for ibiza), cudn't believe it when i looked down at my 500 peseta flipflops and they were turning from white to sandy brown.

ahhhhhhhh!!! ibicenco weather!! the memories!!

Hi all, my first post on this forum.

I am planning on going to Ibiza for a long weekend in September. Can anyone tell me if there is a ferry/boat service that runs to Formentera on either a Saturday or Sunday (during September)? We are staying in Es Cana, so from here would be best, but will have a hire car so can drive to Ibiza town if necessary. Was in Ibiza last year staying in Santa Eulialia (or however is spelt!) and done a day trip to Formentera. Loved the beach, so am desperate to get back there!

Thanks

Thanks Grego - but I cant see a Formentera timetable/ferry service on that link, or on this website. Maybe I'm missing something......???

Thanks Grego, website mostly in Spanish (even the English Section!), which I dont speak! - maybe you could explain:

'No hay disponibilidad de IDA en la fecha seleccionada, ni en los 3 días siguientes. Rogamos pruebes otras fechas.'

I think Its saying that no services runs on the day I chose (Sat 9th Sept or Sun 10th Sept). 3 days after maybe? I just want a day return if possible, on either the Sat or Sun?

There are ferry to Formentera every single day. Just get to Ibiza harbour and take the first ferry, there are few companies running all day long

I MUST make it to Formentera this year... have been to ibiza twice and haven't been. Its about getting up early enough to get a ferry to spend the whole day out there

Thanks Silvia & Grego for the info. Looks like we will be coming over begining of August now, not Sept as originaly thought. Cant wait! Just hope the beach isnt busy - last sept we practically had it to ourselves. Thanks again.

No No No! I want the beach to myself!

Of the few of days we are in ibiza, one of which we will spend on Formentera - the other will no doubt be spent on benirras. Went there last year and though it was a gorgeous beach - just hope the moody sunbed lady with the manky leg aint there this year (or the jelly fish)!
