I think this has been posted before, but anyone wondering whether or not to visit Formentera should have a look at some of the pics on this site.

Personally speaking, hire a bike near the harbour and cycle to one of the more remote beaches. Take plenty to drink and something to eat because there are not too many bars at some of the quieter beaches. Chill and enjoy.
 
Hi everyone! It's my first time posting here so forgive me if someone has already asked this question. A friend and I are thinking about staying at Formentera and then party hopping to Ibiza once in a while. Is that a smart idea or do you recommend staying in Ibiza if we want to attend parties? I don't think we'll party every night. We'd rather have a relaxing beach vacation with some partying sprinkled in. I would love some hotel recommendations in Formentera as well. Thanks folks!

IMO it's great idea.
Formentera hotel offer is very limited compared to Ibiza. Except for the big hotels at Cala Saona and la Mola (Riu Hotel) all you have is pretty basic hotels and apartments.
I would recomend you Hostal Illes Pitiuses at Sant Ferran or Hostal Rafalet at Es Caló. If you prefer apartment, email these people http://www.formenterasapunta.com/
 
Thank you for the advice, Silvia! I think we will stay in Formentera for the first half of our trip and then Ibiza (either Ibiza Town or Playa den Bossa) for the second half. :D
 
Formentera is definitely a fascinating island. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

Just got back from Formentera yesterday. We stayed at the hostal Tahiti in es puejols, highly highly recommend, it's right on the beach and all decorated very modern and brand new. Pool is lovely too. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

We'll definatly be going again.

Oh no... Is there sea normally very rough? We're going the last week of August and have rented a boat for it. Got a bit worries now! The problem with most motion sickness medicine is that they'll completely wipe you out for hours
 
Are boats still banned from mooring of ses illetes ?? When we were there in june the boat we normally got to illetes had been diverted to Sabina port as boats had been banned due to the damage being caused.

The owner said they were having a meeting with the council to try to reverse it.
