First time to Ibiza-What clubs to go to?

Hi, After years of wanting to visit Ibiza, I am finally going in a few weeks time for my 40th Birthday along with a few friends. We are only staying 4 nights, 6th-10th July (worried we won't hack the pace, lol)
Just wondered if anyone could recommend the must go to clubs? I've looked at the party calendar, a few line-ups appeal. Glitterbox @ Hi on the 7th, Big @ Ushuaia on the 8th, Together @amnesia on the 9th or Bodyworks @ Hi on the 9th. Would anyone say one is better than the other? I know it's probably a personal thing. However being that bit older, we are probably going to want something a bit more old school, so any recommendations for that aswell?
Also, if we can't keep up with the all nighters, are there any daytime, maybe more chilled places to go maybe? One of my friends is a big 80's fan, i'm guessing there's no-where that would offer this though away from the clubs?
Thanks in advance!!

Pacha - Claptone (with Purple Disco Machine) or Flower Power
HI - Glitterbox is safe bet
Pikes - Wax Da Jam

I would stay clear of Amnesia if you're not seasoned clubbers

There are daytime parties at Cova Santa on the 6th and 7th July and also Zoo at Benimussa on the 7th which is a great venue to socialise and have a dance but id imagine the crowd will be pretty young, if thats not your thing then avoid. Regarding the 80's... a shame but if you had landed a day earlier you have 'Children of the 80's' at Hard Rock hotel and its a Queen tribute or similar that day. Night time defo Glitterbox but also check Pikes out who have plenty on whilst youre there.

That’s great! Thankyou! Big shame we don’t arrive a day earlier and come back a day later as i’ve seen a couple of things that would have been perfect to go to.
We’ll just have to return again if we enjoy the Ibiza experience ?. I hadn’t heard of Cova Santa, so will check that out.
Thanks again for your reply, really helpful ?? X

If you want oldschool, after dinner go to the port, hang around in bars and meet people and than, be surprised where you wake up the next morning.
Free yourself from the pressure of "must go to places", experience the flow.
If you are happy, you will only meet your folks back at the airport on departure.

I definitely recommend Wax da Jam @ Pikes on the Monday evening. It's an older crowd, good music, friendly...everything you want out of an Ibiza night really. And it's free. You'll need to add yourself and your 3 friends to the guestlist (go on Pikes website).

If you feel like you want a cheeky night on the day you arrive, Hed Kandi 20th birthday @ Eden will be busy and play great old tunes that you'll know (much cheaper than Glitterbox the day after). I thought Eden was quite decent after my recent visit....depends where you're staying, I wouldn't necessarily travel from Bossa to go to it....but handy being on the doorstep.

Finally not sure what type of old skool you mean but Together @ Amnesia will be D&B...sure there will be a few classics thrown in!

Enjoy mate....

My personal thoughts on flower power..........I'm 40, my hubby 48. Flower power sucked in such a big way for us. It was a glorified wedding disco. Personally, I've never been to a good wedding disco. Dolly Parton, Abba and some other old commercial shite. The flower power era had incredible music which wasn't so poppy/commercial. Sadly, that music wasn't played. It was the worst night EVER in Ibiza and I have been going 3 x a year for 17 years. Granted, the last 9 have been mostly with my daughter, so I don't have time to be in the know musically as much as I was. But for me, Flower Power was boaring, sound system dire (original vinyl which is cool, but not in a club for me, and none of the music was mixed. It was like a sad mix tape. And I felt farking ancient. Slow dancing to Jolene.....no. But that's my very personal opinion hahhaha ?) I loved he'd kandi in 2003/2004 though. Went down after that. Pikes has a fantastic vibe. And you're only as old as you feel in your head. You'll love it though whatever. First time is the ultimate! X

i ve always warn people about flower power, even as a Rock addict (60's 70's ) i dont enjoy listen to classic rock pop song in a club

zoo project is nice on sunday, ive seen they put a party on saturday that looks good too with a mix of uk djs & ibz djs (Alfredo, Inaky Garcia el divino de ibz ,resident for those who knows ?)
pikes hotel is nice too.

cova santa if not having car ull spread money on taxis and they didnt play old school

children of 80 is fun, but one time is far enough

glitterbox at hi is recommanded if into old school house , tbh im done with this party for this year (10 last 2 years)
Defected eden closing 18 was good, i dont know about regular dates. i ve experienced one defected opening at eden boring, maybe because i was very solo n knacked that day, and having people from my whatsapp group that didnt spot me even close by 10m in smoke aera and with ☠ on,No hard feeling but those american guys go too strong with drugs ?

they play lot of house music (commercial for the purist ) at obeach but in some parties i heard some crap rnb commercial rap n so on ?
looks like at ibiza rock they play house along their pool parties but i ve never experience their parties

Thanks IbizaPaul! That's brilliant info! Pikes sounds good, might give that a go I think? and Hed Kandi is definetley tempting. Useful to know that both of those don't attract a high entry price.
I meant old school house classics, such as :- Three Drives, Chicane, Agnelli & Nelson, Lange, PVD, Ferry Corsten). I used to love Tony De Vit aswell. I know these are old now, would love to hear some of these but not expecting it. Also up for some D&B but friends may not be so keen? We shall see. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply :)

Thanks Liv! Wow, 3 x a year for 17 years, hardcore! Fair shout to you! Yeah, i'm certainly not going to Ibiza for a glorified wedding disco, and slow dancing to Jolene! Lol!! Sound system is also important! Which places have the better ones? Also interested to see that nobody is recommending Ushuaia or Amnesia too much. Although maybe that's because they attract younger crowds? Pikes is getting a few recommendations, so think we'll go for that. Thanks for the reassurance that we're going to love it. I think we're all a little apprehensive but also mega excited!!!!!!!!

No worries. Trance-wise, you're unlucky that you miss the Shine opening on the 11th July with PVD...that would have a lot of the classic tunes you're after. You'll find some trance up the west end in San An if you have a little wander....

As others have said, try not to plan it too much and definitely don't buy tickets in advance as you never know how you're going to feel from one day to the next. The best thing about Ibiza is the spontaneous nights you end up having.....

Hi, thanks for your reply! We may try Glitterbox but I think it would get to me after as many times as you've been aswell. None of us are into drugs, hoping we'll manage without them and be able to stay awake until they open, lol! Just purely going for love of the music and a good time. We may end up being happy with just the music they play in the bars but for me I have to experience to a club of some sort, just to say i've been there and done it. Thanks again!

Thanks Paul :) Yeah, I saw that Shine opening night, gutted! I agree with you about being spontaneous. I was just after a few suggestions as, as a group we can be pretty indecisive, so the prior knowledge is great! Are you going this year? If so, have a great time!

If you’re after a big club experience, for your age, previous likes and friends I would recommend Pacha.

I would consider the Claptone night on the Monday.

I never knew that FP was this dire? I’ve never been and don’t think I’ll ever go now

I remember Hard Rocks hotel did a 1980's theme with 'Children of the 80's'. Ushuaia has a great outdoor vibe although they are tight with security (body searches at the entrance). Amnesia is a really popular nightclub and the stage performances and lighting effects were incredible. I personally really enjoyed Flower Power at Pacha (went three times). Love that kind of music. After a few drinks you'd swear you were in Austin Power's apartment. ? Also had a great time at Zoo Project. A really fun outdoor party. One minute we were all chatting and drinking, and the next minute we were dancing in a circle! ?

Here is some footage I took.

This is honestly my experience....sorry if that puts people off or makes others angry ? The decor was cool, dancers were fun, but that's it. The awful overpowering smell of incense made me want to hurl - there was so much of it and I have an extremely acute sense of smell..... Loads of cheap tat at the entrance. I think I heard "no woman no cry" 3 times......it was like Groundhog Day. At one point hubby and I sat down and just started laughing at how shite it was! ???? It was our only night out. I actually wanted to cry with disappointment, but had to laugh at the pure total utter CHEESE! The worst part was I missed out on Resistance for some banging techno, as could only go out one night. At least it was a talking point. And definitely memorable. But not worth the money.
