Films involving/about ibiza

She took a lot of stick, especially here in Ireland.
And she still does even though she has turned her life around.
She made a mistake, done time in a South American prison, came home looking hot with a good story to tell.
I certainly wouldn't be judging her to much anyway. We all enjoy the produce and it doesn't exactly arrive here via stork.

I’ve just watched the Born Balearic film about Jon Sa Trinxa
£5 on Vimeo,( had some airplay issues and had to connect to TV via HDMI, if anyone’s arsed).
really made me want to get back on the island
Almost two years later, they made it available here in the US. Well worth the wait....

I’ve really been getting into Dwayne Muffin’s vlogs on YouTube. Started watching them in the winter to see some sunshine and the Island. Really informative and we use the videos to give us an idea of what to expect, where to go and where not to go due to our taste. It’s no for O Beach from us. He’s now trying to do daily vlogs so I’m looking forward to those. Highly recommend.

I'm interested in seeing a film about 80s Ibiza (made at the time or later), that catches the mood between the hippy tail-off and the growing commercialisation - the 'innocent' years when Spain was still in transition. I think the film 'Amnesia' kind of catches that period but is maybe too arthouse.

Its a bit of a weird one. Its beautifully shot, and touches on some of the same darker themes as were in More, probably more relevant to Germans and the collective post-war guilt, ive read its a very personal film based on Schroeder's own mother, and its a nice link to the past given its the same location as More and filmed in the family Ibiza home! The club scenes are terrible though. Doubt Ibiza would have become what it did if it was an accurate portrayal, but again they are kinda incidental to the plot.

Agree, would love to see a film which captures the 80s era, or even one based on Damien Enright's book (i guess More captures that period quite well, but Dope in the Age of Innocence is such a mental story it deserves to be immortalised in film). Wasnt Irvine Welsh supposed to have written a film about the famous 4's arrival? There's such a rich history of interesting characters and culture but the films/shows which seem to get made always fail to hit the mark.

If there ever was a film about the 'famous 4' i would prefer it to be totally honest, acknowledging Trevor Fung, César, Nelo and the others who were there long before. And which also considered the history from a Spanish angle too. The danger otherwise is you get some glossy Pete Tong style revisionism where they basically invented the island 🙄
