Filling up the kettle from the hot tap

This may be a stupid question but is cold water in the bathroom treated in the same way as cold from the kitchen? I think you shouldn't drink it but my housemate does. Who knows what bugs he may be ingesting in the process!

A- You should drink water from the cold bathroom tap only if the water comes directly from the supply main. Otherwise, you should always use water from the cold water tap in the kitchen. The cold water taps in the bathroom may be supplied from a storage tank in the loft so the quality may not be as good as that from the kitchen tap, which comes directly from the mains. Do not drink water from hot water taps as it may contain high levels of copper.

Now we know!

Brilliant, just as I thought! That Jeeves is a clever butler eh. However I have no idea about which pipe/tank my bathroom tap is connected to so the in-house debate rages on..

go into the bathroom and turn the cold tap on. if you can hear the tank refilling then it come out of a tank- if not it comes from the mains ;)
